Augustine's POV.

I unwrap the bandage on my foot to see if any healing has occurred.

Nope.

I replace the bandage with a new one, and continue to worry.

Sword told me to wait here in the street until further notice, but I still got a gut feeling...

Augustine?

"Huh?"

Ok. It's you. And DON'T SCREAM.

"Umm..!"

THUD!

"WHAT WAS THAT?!"
My skin begins to crawl...

"Don't. Scream."

A lumbering shape of a giant serpent hangs its head down to eye level.

It opens its mouth to reveal a ball of glowing ice that illuminates the area.

"...Enit?" I whisper.
It nods its head, and exhales the ice, coating everything with it. Except me.

"You're... You're a snake." I mutter.
"Not really."
He steps onto the glowing ice to reveal talons and claws on feet and arms. His pale blue scales resembled that of a fish's, and navy blue markings dotted his spine.

"A dragon?" I have to admit that I was never good at mythical creatures.
"Something like that." Enit murmurs.

"Cool. But what did you need me for again?"

"Come with me. I need to show you something."

"But-"
"Oops. Too bad."
A giant wing trips me, and flops my body into Enit's scaly back.

"Hold on."
"To what?!" I yell.
"A spike or something."

And with no further adieu, he leaps into the hazy mist that surrounds the city.

"Wait! Isn't there something that keeps you in?!" I shout.

"You're an original. As long as you're hanging onto me, I'll be fine. You must stay on my back, but you can get off as soon as I say tell you to." Enit says.

"Oh. Can't really tell if it's convenient or not, though. And you're acting unusually normal at the moment. Did something happen to you?" I ask.

"Ever since you and your posse came to this place, everyone felt a bit more secure or sane. I don't know how, but I feel my old self again. Cold and hardy. They way I like it."

We speak no more, keeping silent for the time being.

But I can't resist asking.
"So what exactly are we looking for?"

"Before I became all shell-shocked, I did some research as well. But I never found the cure in time. And now that there's two of us, we could probably make a syringe to kill Ophidialyn, as impossible as it seems. But in order to do that, we must obtain my old papers." Enit replies.

"Oh. Ok."

As soon as we exit the giant cloud of fog, I gasp in amazement at the scenery.

Alien life everywhere.
Trees with fruit shaped like the double helix.
A horse and her foal, both the color of ink.
A forest filled with gigantic rose bushes.
A river made of silver with crystalline fish swimming with in it.

"Oh my..."
"Did you not see this when you entered?" Asked Enit.
"No..."
"Well, before Ophidialyn casted a spell to kill off all life within the city of Nočna Morá, this was her home for a while."
"Really?"
"Yes, but..."
"But what??"
"Her parents left her here to die. I'm not really sure how they even got here, but some digging around in the city library got me some answers, but not to my current questions. Who knew that I would find Ophidialyn's journal in the science fiction aisle?"
"May I read it?" I ask desperately.
"Sure. I'm wearing a belt. One of the pockets should contain it. Might be on your... Right I think?"
