After about 3 hours of hearing repetitive music and nagging about the lesson, it was time to meet with my bestest of friends at the lunch break in 30 minutes. We usually meet before the lunch break in the girls bathroom on the second floor. The first floor is taken by Samuel and his female minions. He's a bisexual dude, who hangs out with most of the girls in school to prove he is 100% straight.
My shoes were making that squishy sound, on my way to the bathroom. The hallways were really ordinary here. Cork boards, decorated lockers, tiled floor. Kimber High wasn't any special thing in North Carolina, judging from step mother's wealth. I still wonder to that day why she hasn't sticked me in a private school since it's something she pushed my older brother, Liam, to do.
I finally reach the bathroom and touch the cold handle of the door, and swing it open to get greeted by the beautiful faces of my friends.
"Took you long enough," Francesca swifts her head towards me and speaks, "Did Danielle stick you to the wall again?" she asks as she's applying eyeliner onto her eyelids. Francesca Kyle, the toughest person I know, and for sure is the strongest. She took boxing classes starting from middle school, for reasons she never speaks about. Her platinum blond hair can allure anyone around her, but Frans won't talk shits from anyone, as Americans call it, "At least you're here."
"Let's get back to business here, Frans," Hailee breaks in and smiles excitingly back at me, making me worried. Hailee is an absolute goof ball. She doesn't care about anything, and lives life to its fullest. Other than Hailee, Francesca takes things a little too serious sometimes. Either way, Hailee could just make your whole gazillion years by just smiling at you.
"Why are looking at me like that..?" I jokingly ask Hailee, as she's slowly wiggling her eyebrows, "Hailee, you're freaking me out here," I look at Francesca to atleast get a hint of what's happening, but she seems too busy in her eyeliner work.
"Code 69," she bites her lips and smiles, "New hot guy in town."
My light mood seems to go downhill by these words, all of a sudden. Guys and boys are the last thing on my mind right now. Everyone in town knows me as "The Admired Female," and I bet this dude already heard about me and would blab about me, just like the other guys. It's been a year since I've been in an relationship, practically because I never wanted to be in another one after the last one I escaped from. Pretty merdoso if you ask me, but that's a story for another time.
Francesca moves on from her eyes and starts rubbing her hand with what seems like jasmine hand lotion, "Laila, it's been ages since you've dated someone, basically everyone begging to marry you, Stars," she twists the ring around her ring finger for emphasis. She has a collection of rings on her hands that match her sharp, black nails.
"One word, no," I roll my eyes at both of them and put my hands on my hips, "you guys are ridiculous if you think I will date someone after Owen."
"Not everyone is like that di-" Hailee snaps as the bell rings and I silently say hallelujah for Hailee not screaming curses right now. God I love her.
"Come on let's go and eat, I'm starving," Frans stretches her arms to the sides and passes by us, pushing me to a stall door and Hailee to the sink counter. We both shrug and continue walking causally to the lunch room.
