Amber
"Oh deary, I'm a warlock." Freddy says with a smirk.
"Wha.. what? You're playing, right?" I chuckle nervously. "You mean I've just been sitting alone with this burden when I could've been chilling?"
Freddy laughs."Yup, which is why we should be friends, Amber." He says, with a glint in his eyes that kinda worries me.
I swallow at the mention of my name. This guy can't be serious. "Prove it then. I want to make sure you aren't lying." I challenge. My blue eyes blaze into his brown ones.
"Okay." He simpered. He holds out his hand, for my book. I hesitate, but give it to him.
"Be careful with it." I hiss. He says nothing, but goes into the sand and trances symbols, In which I cannot recognize. He's mumbling something as he says it, moving his hand in a pattern.
What?
Oh wow I'm dumb. A ritual. He's doing a ritual.
I'm lost in my thoughts when a flame appears. "How'd I do? Amber?"
Huh?
I look at him, then the flame. "Whoa! There's fire!" He blinks at me.
"Yeah."
I glare at him. "Yeah." I mock. "So you're for real then..."
"Yes, Amber, I am." I glare again. Then I notice Freddy's eyes flicker over to the left. He looks at me again. "Do you know who that is? He's staring right at us?" I turn around, Jace is looking over here but quickly looks back at Genevieve.
"Yeah... that's my friend Jace," I say and look back at Freddy. "He's probably just assessing the situation."
"He looks jealous, which is weird. His girlfriend is honestly perfect." I frown at Freddy's statement. His lips make an 'o' shape. "Or you're jealous."
My eyes widen. "Don't be ridiculous! I'm not!" He laughs at me.
"Whatever you say." He gets up and walks away. "See you in 8th period."
"Hey! Where are you going?" He waves a hand at me and goes inside. I'm left standing there, and as I look around, Jace and I make eye contact but both quickly break it.
I walk quickly past them and inside as well. No point in even being in their presence.
