For whatever reason, Winter seemed to hate the rainforest. I couldn't possibly Fathom (LOL) why he would. I mean, it's great! Kinkajou especially spazzed out about the amazingness of the rainforest.
"Oh, look! There's a bug, and there's a flower! And ooooh, I think that's a butterfly, oh, nope, another flower... with A BUTTERFLY ON IT, I LOVE THIS PLACE!"
At least Qibli seemed to be mostly tolerant. He swatted away the occasional bug, and sometimes gave me fruit to eat from the higher trees. Thank the moons I had such a great... friend. Best friend? I guess that fit.
Did I love him? Yes. Did he kind of love me? Maybe. I mean, maybe his confession of loving me in the library while I was dying via frostbreath was just my feverish imagination. Wishful thinking was my enemy and best friend, because I can't tell if this beautiful SandWing actually wanted to be my mate! AAGGGHGH FRUSTRATING.
I heard Moon talking to Winter about the wonders of the rainforest (Winter didn't care) and then I tuned them out. I mean, there's only so much Winter I can take before I crave smokeberries and some RainWing sleep darts.
I yelped as Qibli reached for a bright orange toad that attempted to leave, and I smacked it out of his talons as he put it towards his mouth. "I wouldn't eat that. Just one of those, and I apparently replaced my brains with clouds, and trust me, if you had weird dreams before, these'll give you dreams about newts and anteaters taking over the world. Plus, the dreaded hiccups." I said, and he grinned. "I trust you, Star."
SQUEEEEEEEEEE!
STAR, I CAN'T HEAR ANYTHING BESIDES YOUR EXCITED SQUEALING ABOUT QIBLI. PLEASE FANTASIZE ABOUT YOUR DRAGONETS LATER.
SHUT UP.
I watched Moon try to offer Winter a fruit, and he took it, although he gagged when Moon wasn't looking. I smirked, and then munched on a tasty mango. Mmmmm, juicy.
Winter shot towards a sloth, out of nowhere, and the one thought shooting through my mind was: Oh moonfire and starvomit, that's Exquisite's sloth!
I grabbed Winter's leg, and Exquisite, red as a SkyWing, launched towards the sloth and disappeared. I batted Winter's claws away, and snapped at him. "Act like an IceWing, and CHILL."
"There was a SkyWing!" Winter snarled. "It attacked me and stole my prey and then disappear- oh SEAL GUTS!"
Nevertheless, Kinkajou died of laughter, and then came back to life. She grinned at me, turning bright yellow. I didn't know whether to laugh, or what, seeing as Winter was snarling at me.
"Not a SkyWing." Me and Qibli pointed out at the same time, and we blushed. It was obvious Winter had figured that out, and he shoved me aside, earning a growl from Qibli.
"I know, and get out of my way, you stupid NightWing!" Winter roared. "Come out and face me, you cowardly, lunch stealing RainWing!"
Exquisite appeared on a higher branch, glaring, with red scales splattered with black and orange. "Toe-fur is nobody's lunch!" She shouted. Other dragons have taken too many of my sloths, and it's not happening again! "Those nasty black dragons have already eaten one of my sloths, and it's not happening again, IceWing!" She flexed her claws and bared her teeth. I will not hesitate to melt you, freeze-butt.
"Don't make her mad, or more mad." Qibli said, grabbing at Winter's shoulder, and he quickly shrugged it off.
"As if a RainWing would ever dare fight me. As if I couldn't claw off her face as easily as breathing."
"What is with you and faces?" Qibli said, cocking his head jokingly. "You should try threatening someone's elbows or ankles once in a while, just for a change of pace."
