"Seriously?" Worry began to set in.
"Yes. Monaka is currently speaking with them. She requested that you are present."You got out of bed, assuring you had your revolver. "They are securely guarded, right?"
"Of course. There's nothing to worry about."
"Fine. Let's go."
The two of you walked to the main ballroom. You realized you had subconsciously grown very nervous, and tried to hide any sign of fear.
Servant pushed open the large doors, making everyone aware of your presence. All heads turned.
Across the room, both restricted in handcuffs, were your siblings. You noticed your sister had one of the tracking bracelets on, while your brother didn't.
"Welcome." Monaka said.
"Hi." You instinctively reached for your gun, feeling safe with it."Go on." Servant nudged you.
"You needed me?" You asked sheepishly.
"I have a situation..." Monaka said. "I have your siblings right here, and I was about to send them out. But then I thought, 'Why waste time trying to kill them when our servant could do it herself?'"
"You want me...to kill them?" You spoke to Monaka without breaking eye contact with your siblings. Your sister stared back, like she was watching and waiting to see your next move.
"Yes." Monaka's voice lost its high pitch, giving emphasis to her statement. "Either that, or we'll release them and kill them ourselves. It's your choice." The room was quiet.
Well then.
Either way, they're going to die. I just get to choose who kills them.
Your memories conflicted with your morality. Yeah, it's wrong to kill. Yeah, you've done it before, you can do it again. Still, maybe it would be merciful to spare them from the kids and kill them yourself. Or maybe you didn't want to give them mercy? No. It would seem cowardly to refuse to kill them. You wanted to prove that you were better than your siblings.
You pulled out your revolver. "I'll kill them."
Monaka was happy with your response. "Mister Servant, please give her two bullets. You won't miss, right?"
Servant approached you, holding a couple bullets. He dropped two in your hand. You looked at him.
He was smiling slightly, probably looking forward to what was going to happen next. You felt his cold fingers brush against your palm. This guy. He's one of the Remnants of Despair, the group Makoto wants to save. Without breaking eye contact, you loaded your gun. Who can count the number of crimes he's committed. He's a terrorist. A horrible terrorist. You heard the click of the bullet wheel shutting. And yet, Makoto wants to save him. Him and his classmates of despair. You looked back at your siblings. I'm going to kill them. Because...because they were evil to me.
You knew you weren't convincing yourself. It would be shameful to admit you killed a few yakuzas out of pure vengeance after Makoto rescued the monsters that ended the world.
I'd only add to the despair plaguing the world. I wouldn't be any better than my upperclassmen.
You shook your head. "Nevermind. I'm not killing them."
Monaka was taken back. "What? Why not?!"
You put away your revolver. "Reasons." It occurred to you that you were about to do what Monaka wanted you to do. She wanted you to give in to blind revenge. The aftermath would've been terrible.
