You were inspecting your gun when Aoi burst in and announced the ongoing bonfire that you were missing out on.
"Come on! Makoto is working to light the fire right now."
"Eh, I don't really feel like it. Thanks, though."
"Aw, come on! It'll be fun!" She whined.
"Nah. I'm too exhausted."
She pulled a trump card. "Byakuya will be there."
You looked at her. "And?"
"Oh, well, there's an empty spot next to him on the loveseat. He's waiting for it to be filled." She winked mischievously.
You sat still for a few moments, then sighed. "Listen, I'll go join, but not because of Byakuya." You stood up.
"Yeah! We'll be sure not to bother you and your special one."
"Knock it off." You grumbled.
The sun had nearly disappeared when she led you out to the makeshift courtyard. It was just an empty site surrounded by the living cabins. Near the middle, several lawn chairs of various sizes surrounded a metal barrel. The other students sat and watched as Makoto attempted to start a fire in the barrel.
"Hey guys! I got her!" Aoi caught the groups attention as you approached. You eyed Byakuya, who glanced up and nodded to you.
"Go on. Take a seat." Aoi mumbled just loud enough for you to hear. She was right; Byakuya was sitting on a two-person seat, leaning on the right armrest. Scanning the area, you noted that a few other single seats were open. You looked back at Byakuya. He moved his eyes to the empty space next to him, then back to you.
Fine.
You sat next to him, hearing a small squeal from Aoi. "Aoi's all over us currently." You leaned towards him.
"What do you mean?" He watched as Aoi assisted Makoto with the fire.
"She thinks we're in love."
"Well, we are."
"No dip, Sherlock. I'm just wondering if that's an issue."
He watched a successful flame arise, the small fire reflecting in his glasses. "I don't think so. What have you been saying to her about it?"
"I'm denying it, only because I don't know what you want."
"Like I said, I don't care. They can know if they want."
"Still, though, there's something about it."
After successfully lighting the fire, Aoi pranced over. "So, what are you two talking about, hm?" She spoke gleefully.
"Why do you want to know?" Byakuya replied.
She leaned forward, her eyes darting between the two of you. "Come on. Just say it."
"Say what?" You answered.
"Gosh, do I have to spell it out? Just tell me! I won't blab if you don't want."
"See? This is what I'm saying." You said to Byakuya.
"Would you have a problem with it?" He played the pronoun game.
"Uh, I guess not." You shrugged slightly.
"Alright." He sighed. "Aoi, what do you want to know?"
"I think you know what I want to know."
He started at her for a few moments. "Yeah. We're in love."
