I'll make this short because I know most people don't read the author's notes. I'm guilty of that myself.

This isn't cannon and I'm sorry if the personalities of some characters are off. I'm a huge Haikyuu fan but some of their personalities are hard to get. This actually has two chapters combines because I found that it would be better if they were put together. Consider it an unnecessarily long chapter to start this book off. The others shouldn't be as long... No promises.

I'm still in high school so I'll try to update once a week. I think the length of them will make up for it. I do have an end in mind plot for this story. I'm doing this because I like writing, even though I hate English class. It's weird. Sorry in advance if it's bad.

The build up is slow.

WARNING: Swearing, Hints at abuse, trauma, drug abuse and such.

Disclaimer: I do not own Haikyuu or the characters except for some OG characters. They're mostly characters to fill in the plot and are not main. I own the plot and that's it. The fanfic I got the idea from will be posted at the bottom of this chapter.

Cold. Dark. Quiet. That's all that registers through his brain as he continues to run, knowing that if he stops at any point, it's over.

A small figure continues to run through the forest located near the neighborhood, his small feet making it hard to keep the distance between him and his pursuers, but his unusual speed making up for it. He pants, feeling his lungs contort harder as he pushes his worn out body past its limits while grunting with every new bump and scratch he receives from the surrounding nature.

'Where is it? Where is it?', he asks in his mind frantically, looking desperately for an escape through the thick shrubbery. Just as he begins to feel himself slow down, he sees a light shining though the thicket, guiding his way. He sprints, using the last of his energy to reach the light. He pushes his body with all his might, faintly hearing the yells and curses he knows are directed to him and him alone. What if they reach him? What will they do to him if they do?

'Who am I kidding? Of course I know what they'll do. This isn't the first time... but what if they hurt her!? No. I can't let them! I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't, I-'

He's interrupted by the sudden bright light, the moon shining brightly above him as he finally leaves the dark thicket. Realizing he unconsciously reached his destination while ranting in his mind he looks around, trying to regain his bearings and breathing.

This is it. The location where he promised to me them: the only people who actually cared about his sister's and his own well-being; his only friend. But where were they? They should be here by now. Was he early? Or were they late? This isn't good. What if they found them? What if they found him? No, they couldn't. Not his friend. Not the only guy that actually looked at him for who he is, and not what they made him. But they're not here.

As his mind continues to wander frantically, making him panic more and more, he fails to hear the running footsteps behind him, or notice the sudden hand that grabs him by the collar of the shirt, until he's pinned onto the floor.

He gasps, feeling whatever air he had left in his lungs get roughly pushed out. The hand on the collar of his shirt quickly moves to his hands, bounding them behind his back and removing his ability to use them. While this happens, the other hand grabs his hair and pulls, jerking his head up with painful force.

"You thought you could run from us, huh? Idiot." the man currently holding him down says while gripping harder on his hair, making the boy cry out in pain.
