Emily:

"Bye Katy!" I yelled from my car as my best friend walked up the steps to our apartment. She waved without even turning around, her eyes still glued to her phone. I laughed as I watched her stumble up the steps and manage to make it through the door. I pulled out of my parking spot and headed to work.
I wouldn't really call it work. I am a payed intern in a lab at Columbia University while studying microbiology.

College has been pretty boring so far, even though I'm only a freshman. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have Katy. We've been best friends since high school and we share an apartment in the Upper West Side of New York. She is really the only exciting person in my life; she likes to keep me on my toes! She always manages to do crazy, stupid things that get us in trouble and I am the one who has to get us out of it. But I wouldn't trade it for the world!

I reached the school and after spending 10 minutes trying to find a parking space, I parked and headed for the lab.

As usual Dr. Walker was already inside with his lab coat, cleaning up some mess a student had left behind in a previous class. I spent the entire day cleaning up the lab and relabeling bottles of chemicals. I kept messing up while labeling because I couldn't focus. All I could think about was how crazy it was that Katy and I met Luke Hemmings! I mean he spilled coffee on her first, and then basically asked her on a date and got her number! It was too crazy and I couldn't wrap my mind around it.

After saying goodbye to Dr. Walker, I grabbed my things and headed out the door. I got back in my car and drove to the gym down the street, where i spent the next two hours. After my hardcore workout I was starving! I decided to call Katy since it was her turn to make dinner.

"Hey what's for dinner?"
"Umm... Well you see... We dont have any groceries since we havn't gone shopping in a while, but we have enough fruit and almond milk for smoothies?" "Great. I'm starving and we have no food. We can get groceries tomorrow I guess." "Alright, sounds good. I'll see you at home."

I hung up the phone and sighed as I sat and watched all the red tail lights light up in front of me. Welcome to New York City, we have traffic from hell.
