🌸Lilac🌸

I just finished my shift at work. It's now 11:18pm. I grab my stuff and put my hoodie on and go.

I get outside and pull my hood up over my head. Then I begin walking home. Then I get a text from my little sister.

Prim 🐦: Are you done work?

Me: Yeah. I'll be home soon.

Prim🐦: Can you please hurry up? I'm scared!

Me: I'll be as fast as possible. You're okay.

Prim🐦: Love you.

Me: Love you too. See you soon.

Prim and I are pretty close. It's only me and her. My parents died in a home invasion when I was eighteen. I'm now twenty. Prim is ten. I know, there's a big age difference. I have to leave her home alone to go to work. She hates it when I leave because of what happened to our parents. She's scared it'll happen to her. Knowing how scared she is, I decided to take a short cut home through and alleyway. I hate alleyways, but I also don't want Prim to be scared.

I take a deep breath and enter the alleyway. Then my worst nightmare happens. I hear footsteps behind me. I pick up my speed a bit, and so did the footsteps. Shit!

They became faster and closer. I ran as fast as I could. All I could think about was Prim; my ten-year-old sister. What would happen to her if I died?

Then I felt an arm grab me and push me against the wall. It was a tall person. It looked like a man. He had his hood up so I couldn't see his face very well. All I could see was his chin. He had a bit of a stubble.

He yanked my hood down and studied my face. I tried to punch him, but he caught my fist and held my arms over my head. I kicked him, but he didn't move.

"Let me go!" I yelled. He laughed evilly at me. I kneed him where in sun doesn't shine and he finally moved. I started to run, but he quickly recovered and pushed me against the wall again. He pulled out a gun from his jeans and pointed it at my head.

He went close to my ear. "Don't make a sound or move, or you're dead."

I listened to him. After all, he is the one with the gun pointed at my head and I need to be alive for Prim.

"Hey!" A male voice yelled.

I turned to look and there was a boy walking towards us.

I looked at the guy holding the gun to my head and saw him looking at the boy. The guy just stared at the boy, frozen in place.

When the boy got to us, he pushed the man away from me and got the gun out of his hand. The boy slammed the man against the wall a few times before letting him go. The man ran and left me alone with the boy.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

"Y-Yeah. T-Thank y-you," I stuttered.

"No problem." He smiled.

I started to walk out of the alleyway and I noticed the boy following me. I turned to look at him.

"What?" He asked.

"W-Why are you f-following m-me?" I asked. As you can tell, I'm not very good at talking to many people. I'm always stuttering. It's been like that since what happened to my parents. I trust no one and I'm scared of everyone.

"I just want to make sure you get home safe," He replied. I noticed his accent. Wait...fuck.

I can't have him follow me home. I don't want him to know where I live. Even though he just saved my life I still can't trust him.

"P-Please d-don't. I-I'm okay," I said.

"Can I at least have your number so you can text or call me if anything like this ever happens again?" He asks.

He's not gonna give up, is he? I decide that's the least I could do. I nod and we exchange numbers.

"Be careful. Text me when you get home," He says.

"I-I w-will," I replied.

Then we walked opposite directions and I ran home.

****

"Prim!" I yelled.

"Lilac!" She yelled.

She ran up to me and hugged me. "Are you okay?" She asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I said. You might notice that I'm not stuttering. It's because I feel comfortable around Prim.

I decided not to tell her about what happened, knowing that she would freak out.

"We should go to bed," I suggest.

She nods whilst yawning. I go up to her room and tuck her in bed.

Then I go to my room. I remember what the boy said. I remember him setting his contact as Andy. I looked for it in my phone and once I found it I thought about what to say.

Me: Hi Andy. I'm home now. Thank you for helping me.

Andy🌵: Hey Lilac. I'm happy you got home safe. No problem.

Me: Goodnight.

Andy🌵: Goodnight.

With that, I went to sleep.
