"Hi Kimmie," Leon greeted one of his two best friends at the airport. It was now two p.m. local time, and the DFB was about to fly from Sochi to St. Petersburg where the final would take place.

Joshua glanced up from his phone, looking around the terminal before muttering, "Hm, I swear I heard someone talking to me, but I guess I was wrong," and stared at his screen again.

Leon rolled his eyes, done with Joshua's dramatics from the day. He was in such a good mood and didn't want Joshua to ruin it.

Walking away from the crabby Kimmich, Leon chatted with Julian Draxler and Julian Brandt about what they had to do to improve before Sunday's Confederation Cup final. "I think the key is," Brandt started, but was interrupted by someone calling their flight number.

"To be continued," Draxler grabbed his bag, wandering away from the squad. Leon entered the aircraft, only seeing about thirty-five seats because they were taking a private plane.

Lucky for him, Leon only had to sit by one person. Plus, he had the window seat. What was unlucky for him however, was that his plane partner was a still-crabby Joshua.

His friend scoffed when he saw who he was seated next to, but sat down regardless. Leon fished his phone out of his pocket, seeing a message from Emilia.

"What are you smiling about? Who are you texting?" Joshua tried peeking over Leon's shoulder, but he was too small.

"My girlfriend."

"Your what?" He exclaimed, excitement overtaking him. "Emilia is your girlfriend now?"

"Well, not officially, but we've spoken about how we feel, and yes, I'd like her to be my girlfriend but I haven't asked her yet," Leon beamed at Joshua who was now grinning ear-to-ear.

"Oh Retz, I'm sorry for being in a bad mood earlier, I was just mad because you were being a complete moron about Emilia and Erik yesterday. I just didn't want to see you screw things up with her, but obviously you've fixed them!" He hugged Leon, who was trying to escape his tight grip.

"Listen everyone!" Joshua stood up, the entire German national team staring at him. "Leon here finally told Emilia that he likes her!"

The players hustled over to the 6'2 footballer, pulling him out of his seat and encircling him. They jumped around him, tousling his hair and chanting, "Leon, Leon!"

"Everyone please sit down and fasten your seatbelts - the plane is about to take off," Their pilot directed them. The group each took turns kissing Leon's cheeks before sitting in their assigned seats.

"I'm going to take a little nap, unless you want to talk?" Joshua questioned, spreading out his legs.

Leon shook his head no, placing on his headphones. He closed his eyes, wanting to remember every second of his and Emilia's encounter earlier this morning.

"Well, I know what I feel in my heart - and that's you, Emi."

Leon peered down at Emilia, scared of her reaction. Was he too direct? Should he have waited? Oh God, he should've waited.

He grabbed her small hand, placing it over his heart. She looked from where her hand now was, and up to Leon's eyes. With one quick movement, her lips were on his.

Leon grabbed her by the waist, gripping on for dear life. He was worried that if he didn't hold on to her tightly, she would move away and he could never get her back.

After a few seconds, he pulled away, placing his forehead against hers. "I want you too, Leon," Emilia whispered, tugging on his hair. That caused Leon to reattach his lips to Emi's, and they stayed ithere for quite some time.

About a half hour later, Leon's stomach started to rumble. "It seems that I'm getting hungry," He broke away from Emilia, running his index finger over his now chapped lips.

"I could eat too, I guess."

"Good, it's a date. Well technically our second date, the first was supposed to be with my parents, but it was crashed by that joker Joshua," Leon took her hand, tugging her out the door.

He had taken her to a local restaurant, the couple opting for salads and soup for lunch. "So," Leon spoke up. "I guess I don't have to worry about you and Durm anymore, right?"

"No Leon," She rolled her eyes in an annoyed manner. "You never had to in the first place anyways."

After lunch they had taken a walk along the Black Sea coastline. "Wait, hold up," Leon sat down at a bench, pulling Emilia down on his lap. "Do you remember the last time we were here?"

"Of course. We were talking about our past relationships - ya know, something every girl who has a crush on a guy wants to hear him talk about."

"Okay, but besides that," he laughed. "I was talking about wanting a real connection with someone but then stopped because I was embarrassed to say I felt one with you," He confessed finally.

"I thought you were going to say me!" Emilia hollered, excited by his comment. "And then when you didn't I was bummed. I thought maybe you really did just like me as a friend."

"Oh baby, you were so wrong," Leon kissed her cheek before tickling her sides. He loved being in this position with her; taking her out in public, kissing her whenever he wanted - it had taken him a month before he was able to get to this place, but he wouldn't change anything for it.

"We should get back, it's almost time for you to leave," Emilia breathed heavily when Leon finally stopped his tickling attack on her.

They had decided to walk back to the hotel, even though it was about a half an hour trek back. Emi was busy admiring the quaint streets around her, with their beautiful colors and the little shops along the way. Leon on the other hand however, was busy admiring her.

She was wearing a red mock neck sleeveless shirt with white high waisted shorts, and black gladiator sandals. The sun was shining off her strawberry-blonde locks, and Leon thought she looked like a goddess. Their fingers were intertwined, their hands swinging while strolling down the gorgeous Sochi streets. Leon lifted their connected hands to his mouth, kissing it lightly. Emilia grinned up at him, Leon taking it as an invitation to place a soft kiss on her lips.

Emi sighed loudly, shaking her head. She couldn't believe how lucky she had become over the past few months - she had graduated college, has interviews scheduled after this trip for some teaching jobs, and was now dating the prettiest man she had ever laid her eyes on.

The pair made it back to the hotel minutes later, with Emilia going in his room to watch him pack up his belongings. "You could help ya know," Leon teased, re-folding his shirts before putting them in his suitcase.

"What would you like me to do?"

"Hm, I could think of a million things, but because I don't want to rush things between us, I'll say that you can finish folding these shirts so I can grab my hair supplies."

"Oh god, you can't forget the hair supplies!" Emilia ruffled his hair before zipping Leon's suitcase up.

He re-entered the room, wrapping his arms around Emi's waist. "Don't forget that you're flying with Lena and Lina to St. Petersburg. They'll be here around four to make your five-thirty flight."

She nodded, and Leon accompanied his girl down to the lobby where he was going to catch a ride to the airport. "I'll see you in a few hours, schatz. Don't miss me too much."

And with that, he kissed her deeply, not knowing how he'd be able to wait five hours before he could kiss her again.

{end of flashback}

"Hello gentlemen, Flight 121 from Sochi to St. Petersburg is about to land. Please stay seated and buckled up until landing is complete," The pilot announced, Leon shaking Joshua awake.

"Hey buddy, we're here," Leon whispered to his now rested friend.

"Ya ready to win this Cup, Goretzka?"

"I'm playing for Germany and for my girl, Kimmie - I'll always be ready."
