Emilia woke up early on June thirteenth, two weeks after her European trip had ended. It was now summer in Minnesota, and school was out, which meant Emilia had the summer off. With her newly allotted free time, she taught tennis lessons to children ages 4-13 with Rose.

Her first lesson was at eight in the morning, so she quickly changed into a pair of shorts and a t-shirt, snatched a granola bar for breakfast and grabbed her tennis bag as she headed out the door. Rose was already waiting for her in Emilia's car, blasting her Zayn cd with the windows down.

They finished their four one-hour lessons; Emilia and Rose practicing drills and games with the young children. Emilia's favorite part of the lessons wasn't playing with the children, but seeing the mom squads. Because none of the kids could drive, mostly moms, (but some dads as well) came to watch their children. Emilia was very observant of the 4-6 year old moms - the lessons had only been taking place for a week, but the moms were already planning barbecues and parties for the families to come to. She hoped for that kind of solidarity with a group of women one day.

Emilia then drove her and her sister back to Emilia's apartment, but Rose left soon after because she had an afternoon summer class to take at college. She wanted to graduate a semester early, so she took one or two classes during the summer, which Emilia admired her for.

After making herself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a bowl of fresh fruit for lunch, Emilia sat down on the couch and started flipping through the channels. She decided to watch her favorite show 'Parks and Recreation,' and when it went to a commercial, she grabbed her phone, clicking on the Instagram app.

There, she saw that Leon had posted a story, and clicked on it hastily. Emilia sucked in a large breath, feeling like for a moment that she had run out of enough oxygen. In the Boomerang, Leon was wearing a Deutschland National Team t-shirt, sipping from a glass of what she presumed was coffee. His hair was tousled, and his facial hair looked a bit thicker than usual; Emilia thought he was the most handsome man she'd ever seen.

She paused her television show, exiting out of Instagram and tapping on her world clock app. Her eyes scanned down the list of cities until she saw 'Munich,' with the time of 7:30 p.m. next to it.

Emilia figured it wasn't too late, so she clicked Leon's number to FaceTime him. However, he didn't pick up, so she hung up.

A few minutes later, she went to check her mailbox at her apartment. Judy, the older woman behind the counter, noticed Emilia and waved her over the the counter.

"This package is addressed to you as well, but the mailman couldn't fit it into your mailbox," Judy relayed, handing Emilia the box.

Emi took it from her, thanking Judy and trudged up the stairs into her apartment. It was there that she began to examine the box. She hadn't remembered ordering anything lately, so she began looking for a return address on the box, but there wasn't one.
