The sunlight streamed through the open window early the following morning, which wasn't helping Emilia's throbbing head. She was the first one awake from what she could tell, as there were DFB teammates and girlfriends asleep scattered around the large living room. Her and Leon had fallen asleep on a rather boxy, uncomfortable couch in a place unfamiliar to her. She knew it wasn't her hotel room, and it certainly wasn't Leon's. Emi felt a sigh of relief wash over her when Leon began to stir next to her.

He rubbed his eyes with his palm before laying his head on her stomach. "Guten morgen mein schatz. It's a beautiful day, but it can't measure up to the beautiful girl next to me."

Emilia's heart practically skipped a beat at her boyfriend's sweet words. She peered down at him, admiring the boy with the messy curls and pretty brown eyes staring up at her. "Cheesy, but I like it."

"Only for you, Emi," He replied before taking taking her hand in his. It was then that Leon decided to glance around the room as the couple were the only two currently awake. "Do you know where we are? Because I sure as hell don't."

She shook her head answering, "Your guess is as good as mine. The last thing I remember is you serenading me with my favorite Little Mix song, No More Sad Songs in the back of a cab."

He facepalmed himself in disbelief. "I didn't really do that, did I? I mean it's a great song and all, but it makes me sound like a heartbroken teenager when really that couldn't be farther from the truth."

Emilia nodded, as she knew that there was a video of Leon singing the hit on her now-dead cell phone. "Guten morgen guys!" Joshua sat up before immediately holding his head and laying back down. "Oh my god, what did I drink last night? I feel like shit."

"You and us both, buddy," Leon chirped. "I'm pretty sure most of us aren't going to have a very pleasant plane ride back to Germany."

"My god, this is going to be miserable," Joshua buried his face into the carpeted ground he had spent the night on.

"Good morning everyone who is awake," A man emerged from the kitchen holding a cup of coffee quite cheerily compared to the three terribly hungover friends.

"Sandro, do you know where we are?" Leon questioned while Joshua simultaneously asked, "Do you know what time it is?"

"First, we are in my hotel room. I upgraded my room to a suite because I'm older than all of you youngins. Also, it's nearly 12 - we have to be at the airport in an hour and a half so I came in here to start waking people up."

"I didn't know we could upgrade our rooms!" Joshua crossed his arms, frustratedly.

"Please, Kimmie, we all know that there wouldn't be anyone you'd rather be sharing a room with than me," Leon interjected himself into the conversation.

"Obviously, Retz, but I'm sure you'll have to get used to it because once you make the move to Munich next summer, we can live together while you're searching for the perfect house!"

"I already told you that nothing is set in stone, Joshua. I'm keeping my options open," Leon rolled his eyes, slowly sitting up.

"Ja, ja, ja. Talk is cheap, but you know what also is?" The proud Bayern boy asked his best friend.

"What?"

"Bayern getting you on a free transfer."

"Hey sweetheart, I got you one of the 'champions' shirts we're all wearing," Leon handed Emilia the shirt before kissing her forehead briefly. "It might be kind of big though because they didn't have any kids sizes."

"Hey!" Emi slapped him playfully on the arm. She was now going back to Germany with Leon for a week or two seeing it was summer in the U.S., so she didn't have to teach for another month.

"Are you sure you're okay with this babe? I know that I pretty much begged you to come back with me, but I don't want you to feel forced to do anything that makes you uncomfortable," Her boyfriend weaved their hands together, leaning over his girlfriend.

"Leon, I was serious when I told you that I wanted you to show me what makes you, you. As much as I hate to say it, we don't have much time left together, and I want to make the most of it before I have to go back to Minnesota."

He kissed her hand delicately, not wanting to let go. Leon knew that in two weeks or so he wouldn't see his sweet girl until winter break, which they would be apart about four months by that point. It was all worth it though if he could be with Emilia.

Leon hadn't met anyone like her before. Sure, he had been with other girls because he was a famous footballer and girls were constantly trying to hook up with him, but he hadn't had a connection with any of them like he had with Emilia. She was smart, witty, funny, sweet, and didn't have a problem putting him in his place which he needed. His prior girlfriends would just do or say anything to please him because they wanted to have the 'wag' title. Emi wasn't like that though - she didn't care about any of that, and actually wanted to keep their relationship on the down low.

Emilia didn't want their relationship to hurt her professional career, which Leon respected. It was her first year teaching, and if word got out that she was dating a professional football player, people may begin treating her differently rather than if they just knew her as Emilia Schneider. Trust him, Leon wanted to post pictures of the two of them on Instagram and shout their relationship from the rooftop just so everyone would know that she was taken, but he respected her wishes to stay private. He hoped that eventually they would go public with their relationship, but he knew that now just wasn't the right time to do so.

"Goretzka! We are leaving! You'll see your girlfriend back in Munich so let's go!" Coach Löw shouted to the lovestruck boy.

"Well you better get going," Emilia placed her small hand on his bicep for leverage while standing on her tiptoes to give him a kiss.

"But I don't wanna," Leon pouted, sticking his bottom lip out. Emilia then did something that Leon was not expecting at all. She took his bottom lip between her own, tugging on it. Leon's eyes went wide, slightly turned on by the action. He finally leaned into the kiss, placing his hands on the small of her back, trying to deepen the kiss. Emi had other ideas though; she unexpectedly pushed off his chest, disconnecting the two of them and turned on her heels towards the friends and family plane.

"Have a safe flight, Goretzka," She waved over her shoulder without turning around. Leon was stuck in place watching the gorgeous girl walking away.

"Lee-Lee!" Julian Brandt yelled from their aircraft. "We know your girlfriend has a nice ass, but goddamn man, get on the plane!"

Laughing from his friends comment, Leon raced to the plane, excited to bask with the team over their exciting win. He couldn't have asked for a better three weeks in Russia - he was able to grow closer with this young group of German guys; men that he could possibly be playing with in a World Cup one day. Plus, he was able to spend time with his parents, Joshua and Max, and was able to get to know Emilia better.

Obviously winning the Confederations Cup was his biggest accomplishment during this trip, but winning Emilia over was a pretty damn close second. Leon was excited to low-key hang out with his girl for a few weeks before training camp and the hecticness of the season really began. He also had to start thinking about his future plans, and that was one thing that he necessarily wasn't excited about.
