The guards marched me to the gate of the tall castle that seemed to be sitting there, magnificently, terrifyingly, in the middle of a desert. Alone and abandoned. Like me. The other guards chuckled.
"What have we got here?" one said. "A lil' runt?"
"Tell us, Johnathan, what did she do?" the other asked.
"Later, boys." He said.
"Alright, alright, but you better promise."
They all chuckled and opened the gate.
I stood there, unwilling to move my feet. I wouldn't. I was not going in that castle. I was going to be killed anyway. At least being beaten to death by guards was less painful. I stood there, leaving my footprints in the sand, visible to everyone miles apart. I wouldn't move my feet, not matter what they did.
"Move," said Johnathan, pounding me in between my shoulder blades.
I stumbled forward, but I turned back around, found my footprints, and planted them there again.
"Is that a challenge?" the first guard asked.
I looked up from behind my hair and glared.
They full out laughed now, their yellowing teeth showing, Johnathan bending down on his knees, ready to roll on the floor laughing.
I turned around and kneed Johnathan so hard in the nose I knocked him out, then the other guards came at me. I mostly dodged and only got scratched twice in the arm, and I managed to knock both of the out-hands still tied-with my footwork. I took the first guards sword and cut the ropes around my wrists.
You know what... I change my mind.
I picked up a spear and a knife, and I marched to the castle. The guards tried to stop me, but I walked right on through. One got to close, and I killed him. Oops.
I got to the place I was looking for - where the King and the Queen sat. Oh look, their daughter was here, and that was who I was looking for anyway. I figured if anyone knew, they would know their own daughter's location? But because of their daughter, my mother didn't. And she will have to pay.
"You're going to die, today!" I yelled at the princess.
"None of us are going to die!" the King stood.
"This is preposterous!" the Queen agreed, standing.
"Shut up, or you will too!" I screamed. "She killed my mother! You must pay!"
I charged at the princess, and she laughed maliciously as her black dress disappeared and turned into a black jumpsuit as she pulled out her long, sharp sword. She stopped me by the head, sticking her hand out and catching me.
"AHHH!" I growled, stabbing my spear into her stomach.
It went right through her as if she were a ghost.
"Oh can't kill me!" She laughed. "But... I can kill you..."
Her eyes turned a bright, electric blue, like mine, and she was like smoke, with a face... and fangs. Her face came too close for comfort to mine, and as she was about to suck out my soul, a rock hit her in the back of the head.
She turned back into the jumpsuit with her regular teeth and black eyes. that exactly resembled two black holes.
"VIOLET!" yelled Kris.
Kris?
"VIOLET, WAKE UP!" He called frantically.
Kris!
My eyes shot wide open to Kris's screaming and Mom attacking him. Somehow, there was red light everywhere. I don't know how because I didn't have any red night lights or anything, and I felt... empty. Like there was something to me I was missing - something very important, but right now, the only thing that was important was our lives.
Kris's and mine.
I ran over to where they were, not knowing what to do, but knowing exactly what I had to do.
Save Kris, kill Mom, and run.
I ran over and tackled her, her losing her balance and collasping on the hard floor.
"AHHH!" she yelled.
"RUN KRIS!" I screamed.
"NO!" He yelled back, right in my face. "I'M NOT LEAVING YOU WITH THAT THING!"
"IT'S OUR MOM!" I said.
"NO SHE'S NOT!" he yelled. "She tried to... IT LOOKED LIKE SHE WAS SUCKING OUT YOUR SOUL OR SOMETHING!"
"JUST ADMIT IT!" I said.
"NEVER!"
"KRIS, RUN!" I yelled, as Mom turned around and pounded my head against the wall.
"VIOLET!"
I clawed at Mom's face, leaving scratches and leaving her bleeding on the bathroom floor as I grabbed Kris's hand and we ran downstairs and out of the house - but bumped into Alex.
"Alex!" I screamed. "RUN!"
"What?" he asked.
We all got up of the cement after we rolled down the steps - but who was concerned about that when my mother was trying to steal out souls.
"You heard me! We need to go! NOW! Come on, Alex, we'll explain later!" I yelled.
And just like that, we ran.
