Fire.
I knew it all too well. I heard Kris calling my name but I kept running farther and father into the fire, only to see more and more death. Somehow, I felt unaffected by the fire and the smoke. Maybe I've been around it so much I can resist it..?
I suddenly noticed my eyes were glowing. Like flashlights. Finally, I saw an Anicept. Soul Sucker. Whatever, I didn't care. All I cared about was.. Oh yeah: THERE'S A FRICKIN' ANICEPT IN FRONT OF ME.
I felt the glow to my eyes. I knew they were as bright as the stars twinkling in the night sky now, and even through there was so much chaos beauty still shined with a glimmer and a glisten of hope for those who thought all was lost as the fire calmed down.
It was still roaring, and there were still screams of agony, and I was still angry, but I couldn't figure out how to get rid of the Anicept... If it's just a Lost Soul, how would I kill it? I can't.. I.. What?
It charged at me, and I had to think fast. I tuck and rolled right under it, and when it turned around, I was petrified. Then, when it charged, making a low, rattling noise like it was sucking air - or souls - I ran for my life as I realized...
You can't kill an Anicept.
Think about it, if you punch an Anicept, it would go right though them. If you stab an Anicept, you better hope no one else is on the other side, because it'd go right through them. How are Kris and I going to do this..?
The rattling noise got lower, and when I turned to cast a glance to see if it was gone, it was, but I tripped, falling into the fire. I screamed and got up, it burned so badly, I found a place where there was no fire and rolled on the ground. It was just my clothes that caught on fire, luckily, but I did get burned pretty bad.
Breathing hard, I got up and saw a girl hiding behind a house, looking absolutely terrified. She was looking at the horror spreading across her city, because if you weren't being burned to death, you were having your soul sucked out by an Anicept or running and hiding.
I ran over to her.
"Hey," I greeted in a whisper, grabbing her arm. For some reason, I felt this girl was worth saving. "let's go."
"Bry, Violet!" came Kris's voice.
I looked over my shoulder as the girl, apparently named Bry, stared at me with wide eyes.
"Kris! What are you doing here?" I hissed.
"I came to get you," said Kris. "we have to do this together."
We stared at each other for a while, but then I snapped out of it and took Bry with us and went behind the house. We were on the side. We snuck past the Anicepts safely, but unfortunately, I thought as we were running quickly back to Anne in the forest, that probably won't be as easy when we face...
"OH MY GOD!" Anne cried as we approached her. She ran for us and embraced both of us in a hug. "Violet, you're such an idiot! You can't go-"
"I know, I know," I said.
"And Kris! How could you just-"
"Yeah, I know, Mom." he said, rolling his eyes and flipping his hair.
My burns were starting to hurt really bad know. They were on my stomach, back, and arm. Right arm. I tried to hide it behind my back, but unfortunately I had one on my cheek too.I ducked my head and walked behind her saying, "Let's go, we have much to do."
We brought Bry with us.

"Right this way, Misses and Mr," said the guard.
