The entire morning was hectic. Once my dad had called the police they arrived within minutes. My dad explained the situation to the policeman while he wrote down all the details in a pocket sized notepad. Meanwhile I had taken Shay up to my room and the three of us had curled up in my bed and just layed there in shock. We told Madison all that had happened and I could tell she was extremely glad  that she had been in the shower.

"Guys that's terrible, I can't believe this! Now I know you might not be up for it but I was thinking that maybe we could still go shopping? You know to get your mind of all that's happened?" She asked cheerfully.

"You know what Maddy, you're right," I sat up with a smile," We do need some cheering up and retail therapy is always the best kind."

"I don't know you guys I'm not feeling the best," Shay pulled the covers up to her chin.

"Shay, tonight is Hannah's party so we need an outfit, plus you love shopping I know it will make you feel better," I smiled at her and I saw her contemplating her choices.

"Well I do really need a new dress..." She smiled mischeviously up at me and we all giggled at how easy it was so convince her to come with us.

"Alright great lets all get ready and then we will head out to the shops," I jumped out of bed and got into some jeans and light pink tanktop (I like to be comfortable when I shop.)

The three of us made our way downstairs half an hour later ready to go and get some well earned retail therapy.

"Shay, Tayla can we talk to you for a second?" Mum and dad motioned for us to come in the kitchen. I gave Maddy an apologetic look as she went and sat in the living room.

"So what happened with the cops?" Shay asked worriedly.

"Everything is fine. I told the cops what happened and they are going over there right now to arrest your father with assault and he will be given a restraining order," My dad explained.

"Oh my god!" Shay covered her mouth, "I never thought it would get this serious."

"Shay we are happy for you to stay here and live with us but we just wanted to know if you would like to go back and live with your mum?" My mother asked with her arm around Shay's shoulder.

"No, I love my mum but she never did anything to help me," Shay said sadly.

"Okay well we might invite your mother over to have dinner with us one night this week if that's okay? So that she can see you and talk about the whole situation," Dad reassured.

"That sounds great, thank you both so much," Shay hugged them both before we walked out to my car and piled in.

I checked my phone for the first time in ages and saw I had a text from Matt. My face lit up and I quickly opened the message.

Matt: Good morning beautiful. I know you can't tell me what's going on but I hope everything is okay. What time will you be at the party?

Me: I'm sorry Matt I really wish I could tell you, hopefully I can soon. Hmm probably around 8pm.

Matt: See you then gorgeous

I clicked my phone off and turned on the ignition. For the first 5 minutes we sat in silence with just the radio playing in the background. After a while I finally got up the courage to ask Shay, "Um so I was wondering, did you still want me to keep this a secret from Matt, it's just that he is really worried," I kept my eyes on the road.

"Yeah I thought about it and I think Matt should know, especially now that I will be living with you guys," Shay smiled.

"Thanks, I just wanted to make sure it was okay," I gave her a quick smile.
