Richie POV

"Shit."

I tried to act as normal as possible, Mike and Beverly walking towards us. I could already feel Eddie trembling under my firm grip, which indicated his fear.

"I see you dragged the fag out of class to beat him up huh, Rich?" Mike's eyes pierced through mine as he spat those words.

"Pfft, why do you even need to ask that question, isn't it obvious? I'm bringing him somewhere off school grounds to do so too." I reply with a fairly forced smirk, almost too obvious it was fake, yet it convinced the two.

"Sounds fun, can we join?" Beverly asks sounding as if it wasn't even a question, but a fact as she steps closer.

"Sorry kiddos, he's mine for today. You can have him tomorrow or the next, if he even shows up to school that is."

"Fine, whatever." She scoffed. "Lets go." She motions Mike to follow her back into the school.

This whole time, which I had just realized now, my hand was still firmly wrapped around Eddie's wrist. I was soon ripped out of my thoughts along with it. I was honestly quite shocked at the sudden movement, which resulted me to flinch at the action.

"What the hell, Richie?!"

"I did you a favor, you should be thanking me."

"Thank you!?!"

"You're welcome." I reply cockily.

"I can't believe you right now."

"You could."

"I'm done with this conversation."

He says then immediately starts heading towards the school's doors. I soon stop him by yanking his arm towards me which causes Eddie to stumble, us both ending up on the ground while Eddie landed on top of me.

I could see redness flush over his cheeks as he scrambles as fast as possible to get up and off, ending the awkwardness.

I push up on my knees with my hands and dust myself off before regaining eye contact with Eddie. "S-sorry." I managed to say.

"It's alright I guess." He replies, eyes falling down to his shoes.

"Okay, then let's go." I grab at his wrist, not as harshly this time, and start walking in the opposite direction of the school. Not even waiting for a response.

"W-what!? I didn't agree to any of this!" "Do you want to get beaten by Mike and Bev the second the end-of-day bell rings?" "W-well, uh.." "Didn't think so."

"What makes you think I'll feel safer around you?!" I never ended up answering that question because, well, I beat Eddie up almost everyday, and I didn't expect him to feel any different around be even though I was being somewhat considerate.

Which I honestly didn't understand why I was helping him get out of this. Like I get he probably doesn't want to get hurt anymore but it's not like I care, right?

I was confused at myself the whole time we walked, thinking about why I'm doing this, and what not. Eventually we arrived to what appeared to be the quarry. I wasn't really paying attention when we were walking, I guess I was just so deep in thought.

Eddie POV

"What are we doing here?" I asked a bit annoyed, breaking the what seemed to last forever silence.

We were standing on cliff that lead to a very large drop into water in the middle of the woods.

He didn't say anything, which I hated, because I find it quite annoying and rude when people don't relpy to a question. I waved my hand quickly in front of his face which made him break his gaze and glance over at me.

"S-sorry, what?"

"I said, what are we doing here?"

"Oh, um.. I don't know. It's the only place I could think of that isnt school..? Sorry if it's, like, you k-"

"it's fine." I cut him off, sitting down at the ledge, swaying my feet slightly and looking at the water beneath.

"Why are you being so.. nice to me..?" I ask hesitantly, still not looking up to face him.

"I, um.. I guess uh, I don't know umm... maybe because uh.. um.. I don't know." Richie said plainly, stratching the back of his neck.

I couldn't see this of course, because I wasn't looking at him, but I could sense it.

"Actually the way here I was, um, thinking why I was even helping you in the first place, because.. you know I.. He added, not finishing his sentence.

"Oh." I picked a flower that was beside me and started to fiddle with it. I didn't play with it for long before I dropped it into the water below.

I watched it float down, slowly becoming submerged in the water. Richie was still standing, kicking at the pebbles by his feet.

I would offer him to to sit beside me but would feel weird asking him that and it would just be awkward even if he did.

A few minutes passed, us doing our own thing, I stood up from my spot and dusted off the dirt from my pants which caused Richie to look at me while doing so.

"I should go."

"Yeah, ok."

He says as he walks past me and sits where I once was. I give him one final glance, and begin my walk home. And I could say that that was probably one of the best walks home I've had in a long time.

Hey sorry guys if that was a bit short, but hey, at least I got a chapter up. Honestly I feel like things are escalating too fast between Richie and Eddie but okay. Hopefully this chapter is decent so yeahh. Alright I don't really have anything else to say so byee :))
