Richie POV

I woke up to the echo of birds chirping from outside the tree house when the sun raised. I usually get up when the sun was rising, so maybe I would make it to school on time. But then again, Eddie is in my class.

I groaned as I grabbed my bag from the corner of the wooden house and went back down the ladder, planting my shoes on the dewy grass below.

I made it to school 7 minutes early, fetching my things from my locker. When the bell rang, I made my way to my classroom, sitting in my usual spot.

That's when I noticed Eddie. He had a grey sweatshirt pulled over his slim body, his hood over his head. This was quite strange to me, considering he barely wore hoodies. Isn't it a bit too warm for them right now? I shrugged it off and paid attention to the lesson.

My second period class I had Bill with. I wonder if he knew what happened yesterday, and would scold me about it. Had Eddie told him before or after school? Who knew.

When I walked in the class, my eyes met Bill's. He scoffed before taking his seat, me doing the same. Fuck. I bet he knows.

Awhile into class , I noticed Bill glaring at me. I directed my eyes toward him, Bill giving me a 'fuck you' look. I was cut from our eye argument when the teacher snapped at me to pay attention.

Lunch. I didn't even bother going to the cafeteria. I jogged into the bathroom and locked myself in the bathroom stall. I took out a granola bar I had left over from the previous day and ate half of it, saving the rest for later.

I didn't have very much food to begin with, so it won't be long until I start ending up stealing from shops or begging for money on the streets like a fucking homeless person. I didn't like to consider myself homeless, although it was true.

Bill POV

"H-hey Eddie." I said, sitting beside Stanley as per usual at our table.

"Hey." He mumbled, already digging around in his backpack for lunch.

"Are you o-okay?" I asked, glancing at Stan then back to Eddie.

"Yeah, why?" He replied, Will and Mike joining our table soon after, greeting us.

"Y-you just seem a b-bit off. Y-you're wearing darker colors than u-usual, and not to mention y-your sleeves. You only wear t-them in fall and w-winter, unless you're r-really cold." I stuttered, Stanley nodding in agreement.

"I found it a bit chilly today, that's all." He continued, taking a bite of his hotdog.

"If you say so Eddie.." said Stan, unconvinced.

I ate my food, everyone else doing the same, and hardly spoke a word after that. We would usually all be in one big conversation, but none of us really came to it. If someone were to talk now, they would find themselves in a awkward position, which I doubt anyone wants.

I noticed Mike's food in front of him untouched, while the rest of ours were more than half done. So I decided to speak up.

"W-what's up with you, M-Mike?" I asked. He nearly choked on air, eyes slightly widened.

"What..?" He said in between coughing.

"Y-you're acting all g-gloomy too."

"Emo Mike." Commented Stanley.

Mike rolled his eyes and took the first bite out of lunch. I let go of the idea of Mike being all sad and all, until Will gave me a face thinking otherwise. I saw him glance at the boys on each side of him, noticing their saddened sate.
