Eddie POV
( The next day)

I knocked on the door, an hour or so after school had ended. My knuckles tapped on the hard wood, before Karen, Mike's mother, opens it.

"Hey, Eddie. I'll go tell the boys you're here." She smiles, welcoming me in.

I step in, watching her jog up the stairs to Mike's room to go notify him and Richie. Today Richie and I are going to go costume shopping. I brought bus faire for the both of us, not knowing if he would have any or not.

"Heya, Eds!" Richie smiles, hopping down the staircase.

"Hey, Rich." I greet. "And don't call me that."

"Aw, why not, eddie spaghetti?"

"Because I told you not to." I say playfully.

"Hi, Eddie." Mike says, making his way downstairs.

"Hey, Mike."

"But you gave me a nickname?" Richie pouts.

"You never complained." I laughed. "We should probably get going soon." I suggest.

"Are you guys good for money? I could probably spare a few if you needed." Mike offers.

"Nah, unless Richie over here needs some."

"Nope." He pops the p. "Not buying anthing."

I turn to him in shock "What?? But that's the whole point of going costume shopping." Richie justs shrugs in response.

"Who said I wanted a costume? Besides, I thought I was just going to help you pick out yours." Richie says.

"But what's the fun in that?" I frown. "Pleaseee. I'll buy it for you." I plead.

"I don't want you spending your money on me, Eds."

"Oh, that's something you can't choose." I point out. "Also don't call me Eds."

"But then I'll feel guilty after getting stuff from you if I can't return the favor." Richie explains, knowing he won't be able to afford most things.

"You are already a gift to me." I smile, receiving a blush on Richie's end. I notice Mike standing awkwardly behind Richie, not included in our conversation but to only listen from where he stands.

"Hey Mike, do you want to come with us? Maybe you'll talk some sense into Richie on getting a costume?"

Mike shifts, "Nah, you guys should go. Plus I don't fancy being a third wheel." Mike says. "But I will say, Richie, get a costume if not for you, for Eddie." He says before walking towards the kitchen. "Have fun, you guys."

I look to Richie before opening the door, gesturing him to come out. He complies, walking out onto the porch, me closing the door behind us.

-----------

Once at the store, we first go look at those cool decorations that you step on, and having something scary pop up or come at you. Richie kept flinching, trying to casually brush it off as if it were nothing. Yet it was clearly obvious to anyone who were to watch.

I laugh at that, us browsing the many things in the store. "So, Richie, any ideas?"

He gives me a questioning glance. "Costumes, dummy." I roll my eyes jokingly.

"Oh, yeah, right. And, uhm, no." He adjusts his glasses.

"Well, I know what I'm being." I lead him to the hospital section.

"Oh, I though you meant idea for what you're being. But now that makes sense. And again, no I don't." He says, realizing what I meant by my previous question.
