Your P. O. V

You twiddled your thumbs as you waited in front of one of many guest rooms inside the Quinton manor. Louisuette had insisted on talking to the Earl by herself first and you were supposed to meet them during afternoon tea. As much as you trusted the young girl, you couldn't help but feel like you owed the probably very confused Earl some kind of explanation.

Some time has passed now since Eleanor, Louisuette's lady's maid, had come to put the Earl's bags in his room and exchanged a nervous, but encouraging smile with you. The maid had been with her young mistress long enough to understand why you were so anxious to talk to the visitor yourself. If only there was a simple way to put what the both of you knew into words...

Absorbed in finding  the right words to use, you didn't notice the sounds of footsteps until they were extremely close to you. Trying to keep calm, you turned on the direction of the sound, only to meet a familiar figure.

"Ciel?"

"[Y/n]," the blue eyed boy looked just as surprised as you were. "What are you doing here? Did you get invited here for a business deal as well?"

You began to explain your relations with Louisuette to the young earl and as you did so, you could feel yourself calming down considerably. There were many company heads and you were extremely glad that Ciel had been the one invited here. After all, he wouldn't take advantage of  Louisuette's young age after having gone through the same struggles before. That was one less problem that needed to be sorted out.

"I see," the dark haired male seemed satisfied with your explanation. "but I still don't understand what you were waiting for here though."

The question you'd dreaded most had come.

"Well," you began cautiously. "I don't think I need worry about this so much since you're the person she's negotiating with, but-"

"But?" Ciel prompted after you broke off uncertainly.

"She has a tendency to say queer things."

"Queer things?"

"She doesn't mean any harm by them." you hastily continued before there could be any misunderstandings. "but it could sound as if she was purposefully trying to be offensive."

"I don't think that's a problem." the eyepatched male spoke after a thoughtful pause.

"It's not?!"

"She spoke extremely courteously before and she seemed to know exactly what she was doing."

"I'm glad that's the case." you felt as if a huge weight had been lifted from your shoulders at those words. "She's been taught about business by Alister,  so she knows the basics by now."

"She certainly understands business," Ciel continued to praise the young girl.  "The other Earl seemed pleased with her as well."

"There's another Earl here?" you were unable to hide your surprise. "She said she had two business deals,  but I'd assumed they were with just one person."

"No,  there's two of us here."

"I'll have to talk to him too I suppose."

"I wouldn't worry too much if I were you," the dark haired male spoke in a consoling manner. "She's spoken politely so far and there's nothing she said that was queer at all."

You bit your lip. As much as you wanted to trust your sisterly figure, the fact that old habits die hard was true as well. The lessons Alister gave her could've helped her understand business, but could someone really change that much so quickly?

Maybe she grew out of it...?

Ciel began speaking in a less formal manner when he noticed that you were still distressed.

"You don't have to believe me," he spoke more cheerily in an attempt to erase your worries. "but the afternoon tea is going to be soon and you'll see her then. Sebastian's helping out with the tea preparations so I'm sure it'll be good."

"Thank you." you spoke to the boy in front of you with a greatful smile.

"No problem." he paused to look up to the clock on the hallway wall. "We'd better get going though or well be late for tea.

Looking at the clock,  you were surprised that time had passed so fast. Waiting alone in the hallway,  the clock seemed extremely slow,  but it seemed to have sped up after Ciel arrived.

You accompanied the Earl to where the tea was to be served feeling much calmer than you had previously been.

----------------+----------------

Louisuette was already present in the hall and the table had been set up incredibly well- Sebastian had evidently helped around a lot.

The two of you arrived there just as the other guest did and Ciel noticed the look of recognition you and the other Earl exchanged.

"You two know each other?"

"Yes-" you began to speak but got interuppted by the blonde haired boy.

"We were engaged."

There was a gasp from the small figure that had almost been forgotten.
"I didn't know you were engaged,
[Y/n]." the girl's tone was disapproving.

"It was a short engagement," you hastily pacified a stung Louisuette- the two of you had promised to be completely honest with each other. "I wasn't trying to hide it from you or anything like that."

The young girl seemed satisfied with the explanation and you all sat down for tea. Ciel still looked confused about what he'd just learned and you couldn't blame him- it took a long time for you to wrap your head around the matter of the engagement as well.

"So you know both of the Earls here then?" Louisuette looked at you expectantly as if wanting a more detailed explanation about the circumstances in which you met.

"They're both long stories."

The young girl gave an understanding nod and the tea began. Claude and Sebastian were both helping out and the Quinton family's butler looked extremely put off but also impressed. If you weren't wrong,  it seems as if the two black haired butlers were trying to outdo the other.

"This is amazing." Louisuette spoke happily.

Ciel and Alois both looked satisfied with her reaction, certain that the success was owed to their butlers.

"You are a fan of pastries?" the blue eyed male asked her, indicating the scone on her plate.

"No,  not that," the young girl shook her head. "Its just that I've never seen a demon before,  but now I'm in a room with two of them."
