Rays of sunlight slipped through the posh purple curtains, signalling your cue to wake up and leave the room.
You sat up gently, trying not to rouse the sleeping boy beside you and started to silently absorb the restful morning atmosphere. As you let your eyes wander around the room, you noticed Alois beginning to stir. Careful not to further disturb him, you slipped out from under the blanket and crept towards the door, leaving just as he was waking up.
You couldn't help but smile at the sight- he looked so innocent the way he was now.
Perhaps the outburst you'd witnessed last night was merely the consequence of stress. He was meeting his fiancé for the first time after all- he must've felt just as nervous as you did, even if he didn't show it.
The guest room was still empty when you got back. Good. You needed some time alone to sort out your thoughts.
You couldn't shake off the guilty feeling about lying to Alois only to receive kindness in return. He'd been very generous already and you didn't want to ask for anything more from him, but it was still necessary to ask for information about the woman who claimed to be your aunt.
Deciding that dwelling on the problems wasn't going to get you anywhere, you put on your usual clothes (your father believed it was important to be able to simple things like dressing yourself independently even if you were a noble) and headed down to the dining room.

"[Y/n]!" Alois noticed you and rushed in your direction.
"Good morning, Alois."
"I thought you left me..." the blonde haired boy spoke quietly. "I didn't do anything wrong, did I?"
"Of course you didn't!" you were confused as to how he came to that idea, but you managed to reply the saddened boy firmly.
"Then why'd you leave?!" you took a step back, startled by his abrupt change of mood.
You've never seen someone change from apologetic to absolutely livid in such a short time, but your fiancé managed to pull it off.
His eyes were filled with rage and you had to look away from them to regain the ability to talk."Well," you stumbled on your words, struggling to voice your feelings- you weren't even sure yourself why you left his room so suddenly. "You were so kind to me last night and I didn't want to be a burden to you, so..."
You bit your lip to stop yourself from talking more- even as you said it, you realised how pathetic your statement sounded. Not brave enough to face the blonde haired boy, you evaded his eyes and focused on staring at the patterned carpet beneath your feet.
"Don't say that."
Once again surprised by the sudden change in his tone, you looked up to meet what was now a pair of calm, concerned eyes.
"Don't say what?" your voice came out as almost a whisper. Your fiancé's sudden mood swings were starting to worry you as it seemed that one wrong word could turn him into a completely different person- you made a mental note to choose your words more wisely from now on.
"You're not a burden."
You were stunned into silence at his unexpected statement.
"And I'll always be happy to help you, so you don't need to worry about that either, okay?"
"Thank you." The words, no matter how greatful, still seemed weak compared to everything he'd helped you with and you made a silent vow to pay him back somehow.
"No problem."
"We'd better hurry along to breakfast now though, or Claude'll be wondering where we'd gone off to." The blonde haired boy spoke in his characteristically cheerful manner and you let him pull you along to the dining room.
