I sat on my windowsill looking through the curtains as Jeremy stood guard outside. It was the early hours of the morning, around 3am or 4am, but I'd stopped counting by this point. As hard as I tried I just couldn't put my mind to rest. It was like my thoughts were on an endless carousel just going round and round.

I knew George's men were out there, watching, only now they'd made themselves more discreet, almost as if they were planning something in secret. It put my teeth on edge.

I sighed thinking about my argument with Tommy.

I mean of course I wanted the Blinder's to beat the Kings, but it just wasn't realistic. Maybe I was letting my fear of the Kings drive my perspective on the whole situation, but was that such a bad thing?

I groaned rubbing temples, knowing I was in for a long night.

It was at this moment there was a knock at my bedroom door. When I didn't answer, Zelda pushed it open anyway. She walked in holding 2 glasses of wine, a warm smile on her face.

She sat down next to me on the windowsill and handed me one of the glasses.

'I saw that your light was on'

I nodded, my eye contact still focused on the darkness outside.

She brought her knees up to her chest and sighed.

'If it makes you feel any better, I'm scared too'

My eyebrows raised as I turned to look at her, a comforting look in her eyes.

'Then why didn't you say anything?' I asked slightly annoyed. 'Why didn't you try and stop them from wanting to go to war?'

She shook her head sipping her wine.

'Because it wouldn't have made a difference Em. The Blinder's are going to fight the Kings no matter how much we don't want them too'

I sighed letting my head fall into my hands.

'I just don't want to lose anybody'

She nodded and reached out to take my hand in hers.

'I'm not going to make you false promises and say that no-ones going to get hurt, because neither of us know what's going to happen tomorrow. All I know is that we have to be there for them, even if that means supporting the stupid decision they've made'

I chuckled at her phrasing, the first real laugh I'd had all night. I looked up at her and smiled, squeezing her hand lovingly.

'Thanks, Z. I wouldn't have been able to get through this without you'

She grinned and shrugged as if it were nothing.

'What are best friends for ay?'

I smiled wide as we sat on the window ledge in a content silence.

Zelda had just reaffirmed what I had been thinking all along. I loved Tommy and supported him with all my heart... that's why come tomorrow I was going to do everything in my power to stop this damn warfare.

The next morning me and the girls hardly saw any of the lads, apparently they were all off preparing for tonight. Currently me, Ada, Pol, Esme and Zelda were sat around the Shelby Company Lmtd kitchen table sipping tea.

Pols eyes squinted as she took a sip from her mug.

'I don't like how quiet it is. It's making me uneasy'

Ada looked up at her.

'Pol I'd be worried if you weren't uneasy considering what's about to happen in a couple of hours'
