Heidi had arrived just as I was getting out of the bath. She smiled as she picked up on the familiar scent that now filled the bathroom.

"Sending a message?" She asked.

"Something like that." I smiled as I pat myself dry before putting on a very risque lingerie set, and selected my own gown for the evening. I went with a rather form fitting velvet gown, it had a sweetheart neckline and it was perfect for what I needed.

For now I put on a robe as I still needed to do my hair and makeup.

"Do you mind if we keep my make-up very subtle tonight?" I asked. She nodded "Also, I'd like to straighten my hair, and style it in a low ponytail."

"Of course." She answered, "We'll do the hair first, I'd hate for the heat needed to straighten your hair to ruin your make-up."

I took a seat on the chair and let her go to work on my lions mane of damp curls.

I sat there with my eyes closed, I wish I knew where Titus was, I hope he's alright.

My wolf whimpered...she had been depressed since he stormed out of the office earlier. I tried to ease her as well as myself as I thought about this morning. Titus and I were so carefree, we were loving and playful and all over each other. I wished I could go back to this morning, with the sun on my face and his kisses on my shoulder.

It took a while but when Heidi finally finished my hair I stopped her before she starting on my makeup.

"I have something to ask of you but I don't want to disresepct you in anyways."

"If it's about Evan please feel free to ask what you want." She smiled and I could see she meant it.

"It's just...I don't know if Titus will be coming to dinner..." I felt pathetic even saying it loud, was Titus hiding away from me, like was the sight of me upsetting to him?

"You want to know if Evan will escort you to dinner?" she asked with a sympathetic smile

"I was actually wondering if he wouldn't mind sticking near me when we first arrive just so he could introduce me to all of the Alphas personally, as you can imagine, I don't know any of them...although I can't just arrive alone, now that you mention it?"

She shook her head, "Im afraid you must be escorted as it's befitting of your Title and Status."

I rolled my eyes.

She laughed a little as she was readied the products to use on my face, "Evan won't mind, I do hope Titus does arrive before dinner too as this is my first formal dinner as well...I mean other than with my parent's but dinner with Lord and Lady Graystone is super super formal."

I shook my head, I felt horrible now. How selfish had I been, I was so worried about my own troubles and having an escort and here she was aiding me while she still had to get ready herself.

"Here I have you getting me ready and you haven't even gotten yourself started."

"You're the Luna, you need to be flawless."

I shook my head. "I've been doing my own make-up since I was 15, I can manage...start getting ready ad then come in here and I'll help you with your hair and make-up."

She looked excited and then practically ran off to get ready for the evening.

It didn't take her long to get herself showered. She came back wearing a long cotton robe and holding up a long black bag. She took a seat in the same chair I was just in. "So Miss Heidi, what look are we going for this evening."

She shrugged "maybe a bold eye and a more neutral lip."

I nodded as I took her words in, "And for this beautiful hair of yours?" I said as I ran my fingers through her light brown hair, she had lovely golden highlights. "Nothing really...Evan likes my natural hair."

I smiled but couldn't hide the sadness in my eyes, Titus likes my wild curls.

I worked on her and We helped each other with our dresses. Of course mine was a deep midnight blue color, while hers was a lovely apricot color.

Evan knocked on the door to signal it was time to make our way downstairs. He greeted us kindly.

"Has he come home?" I asked hopeful.

He shook his head, "No my Lady."

I let out a sigh, "I'll have to think of something to tell the guests for his absence."

"I've taken the liberty of informing the guests that it will be yourself and I alone this evening with them...they wouldn't be so bold to ask of our Lord Graystone's whereabouts."

"You Evan, are a lifesaver." I said, while it made explaining Titus' absence somewhat easier, it didn't make this evening any easier to bear.

He stood between the both of us as we each took one of his arms as he led us down the stairs.

The three of us entered the dining room and it seemed we were the last to arrive.

Heidi found her aunt and uncle and joined them before Evan was so perfectly gallant as he escorted me to each Alpha and Beta, introducing them to me so I may shake their hand and act the ever gracious hostess.

A member of the wait staff helped me with my chair and as I sat everyone followed suit. We were all served and I made small talk with two alphas that I sat in between.

I smiled the perfect smile, laughed at all of The asinine jokes, listened as if I cared about their conversations but inside I was so terrified.

"It's a shame that Alpha Graystone couldn't be with us tonight." One of the older Alphas sounded.

I smiled and nodded apologetically, "I know, but I also know he is very much look forward to sitting with all of you...alongside myself I mean."

The Alpha chuckled, before everyone stopped their conversations and stood. I wasn't sure what had happened but as I stood I felt him.

"Please everyone continued as you were."

My wolf arose inside of me as I turned to watch him enter the dining room. He looked as handsome as ever.

"My apologies for my tardiness, please please...eat, talk." He smiled at the guest before stopping to face me. He lowered his mouth to whisper in my ear. "I am so sorry it took me so long." He said, his words were sad. "But I'm here now...with you." He finished before he kissed my cheek and then continued to the opposite end of the table.

The staff brought out his food and I had to fight the urge to look over at him, instead I angled myself to speak with Alpha Burnett about his packs major importing trade, mostly to keep from looking at Titus, and also so he'd be able to see my mark on full display.
