When we entered, the whole house seemed to still instantly as everyone watched us walk in."Well this isn't awkward." Ash whispered...of course everyone could hear it.
"Welcome to our home." Victor stepped forward and smiled, Lydia right beside him, Nico trailing behind the both of them boredly.
I watched as Lydia took in Ash's appearance.
He was tall and seemed to bear a permenant scowl like my father...but he was never one to be too serious, he had similar brown hair and eyes to my own but much like my husband a rather muscular build (Although that's pretty common for male-weres).
I knew she'd be seeing my father in him...growing up everyone would constantly remark how Ash looked more like dad than Rich did and how Ash should have had the name Richard Junior.
"Please make yourselves at home, but first allow me to introduce you to my wife Lydia and our son Nicholas."
Ash nodded his head once to acknowledge the whole group.
"Ashton." Lydia sounded in a barely there whisper, but it was enought to gain Ash's attention. She stepped forward, "you are so handsome."
I knew he'd be fighting not to blush as he really is quite bashful. "I don't really know what's going on here, all I know is my sister asked me to come and out of respect for her I have done so..."
"how about the two of you speak in private. "Victor offered peacfully as he gestured toward an office just off the front door."
Ash nodded once again and as a gentlman waited for Lydia to make her way first before following her into the office. One of them shut the door behind them and the rest of us went on our way with me hugging Heidi and Titus talking with both Victor and Nico.
"How do you think things are going to go in there?" Heidi asked with worry.
I shook my head, "No telling really...Ash is very stubborn and he tends to let his emotions run him...something that he's improved on but also something I know he's still working on...he wasn't exactly thrilled when I called him...more so he thinks Lydia has ulterior motives for wanting to be in our lives now."
"Why?" She asked.
I sighed, "He wants to know why the interest in her children now...I mean we're both over eighteen years old and she could've tried to contacted us on our eighteenth birthdays...but I'm married to Titus so he thinks she's wanting some sort of power pull...like why didn't she bother contacting him, why me?"
She sighed, "I think I'm to blame for that." She confessed a little nervously.
"What do you mean?"
"Well when I first met you I was so awestruck, that's when I called my mom and told her all about you, she must've been the one to tell my aunt after we hung-up...Of course I have no doubt that she wanted to meet you as soon as she found out about you, but people don't just show up at Graystone Manor without an invitation." She said
She sighed once again before continuing. "Once you had been presented as the Luna everyone was able to come up North to seek an alliance, no inviation required and she took her opportunity when she could."

-Ash-
"I know you have no reason to believe me but it's the truth." She sounded almost pleadingly.
I had stood there listening to her story about having me and giving me up, her betrayal from my father...only to turn around and do it all over again with my sister and this twin none of us knew about.
"I don't question the validity of the story Luna Pruitt...you very well may be our mother...my issue is why now...and why have you seeked out my younger sister and not myself?"
I wasn't jealous by any means, on the contrary...as the older brother it is my job to assure that my sister is happy and safe...I didn't need someone coming into her life and fucking with her emotions, especially now when Evie is so happy in her life.
It was why I was so hesistant with her marriage to Alpha Graystone, but seeing them first hand anyone could see they were crazy about eachother and he was extremely protective of her, no brother could ask for anything more out of his sisters husband. I held back the smile as I thought about how good my brother in law is to Evie.
"I did try to reach you, on multiple occassions." She sounded, she was on the verge tears now as anger arose within her. "Every birthday I sent a card to both you and your sister, every christmas I sent a gift, I wrote to you both even paid to have people sneak the letters in...I went so far as to go to your father myself only to be turned away before I could step foot in the packhouse...so don't you for one second say I didn't try."
I felt bad, but what could be done?
"My love for you and your sister never faltered, if anything, some would even say I loved you both more than the two beautiful children I was able to raise as my every thought was with you both...of course I love both Magnolia and Nicholas, but every school picture they took I wondered what your's and Everest's looked like, Every Birthday I would sit and wonder, 'what kind of party would Ashton like this year...he's too old for cars, I wonder if he like dinosaurs, or superheros?' But every year I would purchase a cupcake and sing you happy birthday before I would make a wish for your happiness and health and blow out the candle."
It was hard to hear.
"Everyday I have regretted handing you over...I was young, an idiot who was in love with the idea of being a Luna and nothing more."
"Would you change it all if you could?" I asked her.
She shook her head. "No"
I was getting angry now, "Even after everything you told me, all of the heartache?!" I growled.
She held still and just looked at me before she sighed
"Don't you see, despite the heartache that came with allowing your father to take you...Had I never done that, I wouldn't have had Everest and Magnolia, nor would I have even met my mate Victor, or had Nicholas."
I hadn't thought of it that way...looking at her now I saw that she was extrodinarily strong, to have to go through all of that, and brave as I couldn't imagine what kind of backlash she had to face for having children out of wedlock.
"I'm sorry for the life you've had to live...but again, why didn't you just reach out to me first, I would have been a lot less hostile." I sighed, "When it comes to my mate and my sister...no one messes with them."
She smiled and nodded, "I wish I could have reached out to you son...but to be honest I thought you both still lived with your father...it was my neice who informed my sister about Everest, she didn't mention her ties with Alpha Graystone or anything so please don't worry about me trying to use her in any ways...she simply told my sister that a girl who looked exactly like Magnolia had come to the pack...no more, no less."
"I wasn't aware you had a niece at the North stone pack?" I sounded.
She nodded her head, "She went with Magnolia as they were always so close...so when Magnolia moved, Heidi went with her."
It made sense now.
I sighed, there was nothing more to be said. My wolf and I both felt that she was being genuine.
"So you mentioned a mate?" She asked now.
I told her all about Flora, how we met, my pack, and how Flora is currently expecting our first child.
"It's a girl...I've been meaning to tell Everest."
Her eyes were wide with happy surprise, "I am so incredibly happy for the both of you Ashton, and despite the crap your father has done in his life...I'm so glad to know that you and your sister live very happy lives now."
Soon the both of us exited the office, her with more knowledge into my life, and me with a better understanding of my past.
