The next day, Daisuke woke up to find his guardian angel sleeping peacefully next to him, spreading his wings. One hung over the bed, and the other was placed neatly on Daisuke, acting as a feathery blanket. His brother was pretty hands on. He didn’t mind hugging strangers, and Daisuke sometimes wondered if personal space meant anything to his night owl brother.
Remembering Dark’s constant whining in the morning, Daisuke tried to get out of bed without waking his brother. Why he was sleeping made no sense to Daisuke, considering that Dark, as a guardian angel, should be awake, on the look out. The redhead had already noticed, however, that Dark knew next to nothing about what he was doing there. Heaven needed to reevaluate it’s schools, in Daisuke’s opinion.
As Daisuke began to wiggle out from beneath the huge wing, he realized how tempted he was to at least touch a feather. He didn’t interact much with birds, and he was kind of curious what angel wings were like. He reached out and softly stroked one of the feathers on the edge. Dark wouldn’t notice, right? And if Dark would be bothered by Daisuke making physical contact with his wings, he wouldn’t have one acting like a blanket, right?
Daisuke was somewhat shocked to find that the feather was soft, although he had half expected it. Before he could do anything else, the owner of the feather spoke up. Kind of.
“That’s sensitive.” He mumbled in protest, sounding like he was only trying to be angry. He actually sounded more tired, and a tiny bit pleased. It was probably because he loved attention so much that the seventeen year old couldn’t help but enjoy the physical contact, or maybe it was the fact that he was expecting next to no actual contact, since most people obviously couldn’t even see him.
“Sorry, but you did have your wing over me.”
Dark simply folded the wing back, to allow his little brother to leave. Daisuke could go ahead and be awake at what the angel thought was an unholy time, but said angel was sleeping. Sure, sleep wasn’t necessary, but some things never died, and one of those things was the fact that early morning wasn’t Dark’s favourite time at all.
Daisuke sighed. “Dark, are you just going to sleep all day? Today’s a school day, so…” He began getting ready, knowing the conversation was going to consist of Dark grunting, groaning, shrugging, and turning.
“Mngh.” Was the first noise to escape Dark as he shrugged and repositioned himself, taking up as much as the bed as possible.
Ah yes, so the conversation began.
“Do you even know if you can go back… Go back to where you came from?” Daisuke didn’t know whether to call Heaven Dark’s home or just Heaven.
“... Nnh.” A turn now, followed by a slightly aggravated wing flap. Daisuke had to remember that one. He should write a mini journal to remind himself of Dark’s tired sign language.
Daisuke sighed again. “Of course you have no idea.”
An insulted “Nngh”, followed by Dark puffing up his feathers. Wings were going to aid Daisuke a lot.
“Why would they send you without knowing what you were doing?”
A confused “Mnh”. No movement, except for a slight shrug. Even though this was his smallest reaction, Dark moved a lot for a tired person.
“So you’re really just going to sleep all day and wait for me to come home?”
A long pause, and then a conflicted “Ghhhn”, followed by Dark raising his wings and making the feathers stand up more. Was he trying to get Daisuke to stop asking him questions by looking threatening? The fourteen year old didn’t really care though, after all, Dark wouldn’t hurt him seriously as a human, and as his guardian angel? The idea was even less possible.
