As it turned out, Daisuke ended up going to school without his new angel. It wasn’t odd at all, in fact, Daisuke was glad he had the space to properly think this out. If heaven was supposed to be such a great place, why were there no instructions? Why were they so left in the dark on the matter?
Daisuke went on with these thoughts, forgetting he was at school. This, of course, was foolish of him.
“Hey, Niwa. Are you okay?” A calm voice asked, interrupting Daisuke’s stream of questions.
“Eh-uah! Oh, uh, Hiwatari! Y-yeah, I’m fine, I was just thinking.” The child in question panicked. Hiwatari was always so alert, how could he forget? It was obvious he would notice, and now Daisuke was making a fool of himself.
Great.
Hiwatari gave Daisuke a skeptical look. “Thinking?”
“Y-yeah! I’ve just had a lot on my mind, my brother has been acting weird lately.” This wasn’t a complete lie. Dark, of course, was acting weird. After all, he did come back out of the blue as an angel. Other than that, lately, Wiz had been asking for twice as many strawberries, but in different bags. He also picked flowers, and refused to talk about the kid in his class. Daisuke suspected it was the transfer student, a cute little girl. Maybe Dark’s flirtatious behaviour rubbed off on Wiz? Whatever it was, it saved him in this moment.
“Oh, has he? I’m sure it’s nothing, he is only… Five, right?”
Daisuke nodded. “You’re right, I guess. I just worry a lot.”
“That’s fine, after all, you are his older-” Hiwatari stopped mid-sentence, which was very rare for him. He had a confused, and scared look in his icy blue eyes, although his face remained looking neutral. “I just remembered, I have some business to attend to. Good luck with your brother.” His voice would sound normal to most people, but Daisuke was good at reading emotion, and because of such, he could hear the slight quiver in his blue-haired friend’s voice, and he could sense that something was wrong. Dark would have to hear about his.
