Their vision went black, and they were numb. They were stuck in a limbo between life and death, but death clung on to the twins tighter than life was, and it almost felt like life was slowly letting go.

Dark looked around the dark place, and saw his brother, also surveying the area. Soon the blackness faded into a hospital room, and Dark noted he and Krad were standing in the middle, rather than laying in a bed.

“Krad, do you have any idea-” The sentence was cut by Dark’s new discovery. He saw something he hadn’t expected. Himself. Lying helplessly, bloody, and crushed on a hospital bed. Suddenly, Dark had an idea on what was happening. He turned slowly, wondering why his twin didn’t make some comment, fearing Krad had discovered what he did.

Sure enough, as he turned to look at his twin, he saw Krad. Twice. One looking at the body, and the body in the same state as Dark’s body. It was painful to look at.

Slowly, Krad turned to look at Dark. The expression in his eyes at first seemed like fear and shock, the same ones reflected in Dark’s eyes. Soon, however, something changed in Krad’s golden eyes. It was rage. He was glaring at Dark, rage seeming to consume him, and Dark didn’t know if it was best to flee or stay. It wasn’t the warning glare that he had received the night before, and it wasn’t the ‘I will kill you in your sleep’ glare Dark had gotten before. No. This glare told Dark that if he wasn’t already dead, Krad would murder him in the most painful way possible.

“Krad, listen to me. I didn’t mean to, and we don’t-”

“Shut up! You killed me! You hated me from the start, and so you killed me, even willing to sacrifice more than one life!”

Krad lunged at his brother, and before either one could properly start a fight, their environment changed again. Everything darkened in comparison to the white light shining from above, and the red crack glowing from below. They stopped, and looked at both in fear.

“It has been decided then.” Said a male voice from seemingly nowhere, and the twins exchanged looks.

Suddenly, the bright white light began to pull at Dark, lifting him into the air, towards it’s origin. “Krad!” He shouted, genuinely worried. That crack could only be one thing, and Dark wasn’t sure if Krad deserved it. Yes, he was… Cruel. Yes, Dark normally couldn’t stand him. Even so, Dark was the one that had gotten them killed, and it wasn’t like Krad had actually ever killed anyone.

Krad realized what was to happen to him too, and with fear returning to his eyes, he grabbed his twin’s forearm, and his forearm was grabbed back. “Dark!” He called back, desperation on his face.

The gravity of the crack was strong though, and pulled him downwards, and the light pulled Dark upwards, unlocking their grip, and prying them away. They shouted for each other, the panic obvious, but they didn’t care. Dark didn’t hate Krad enough to let him suffer for all eternity, and Krad knew this.

Within seconds, the two were pulled to their respective directions, and the monitors in the hospital room went flat.
