"You know, the Trial by Tale is in a week" Vanessa looked up from her lunch at Callis, who was staring at the board of scores. She was eleventh, it had been two weeks since Sophie has ran into the school, in the process to get into the good building she had blown up a shiny glass brick wall, which had recently been attempted to be fixed with modeling chocolate bricks as fairies tried to remake the classic brick.
Vanessa's glance ran towards the board, she was still in first place.
"Yea?" Callis looked back to Vanessa, her blond hair in a braided crown with twigs and small flowers that seemed to be growing out of her hair. Vee was the prettiest girl, her pinstripe silk top was fit perfectly, and pink a line denim skirt made her look flirty and professional, while Callis looked like she was trying too hard. Her shirt didn't tuck, and it just sat there, her skirt seemed too tight, she couldn't move her legs half the time, and she didn't want to cut her skirt shorter like Vanessa did, even though she still looked amazing and the shorter skirt didn't seem at all like she was trying too hard.
All Callis wanted was to wear some pants.
"I just wish we could be in there, together!" She smiled her beautiful smile. Now that Callis figured out Tedros was her dad, she spotted similarities on Vanessa's face that seemed a lot like her father's, the smile, the eyes.. A mix of green and blue to make a dark teal with flecks of lighter blue.
"Oh well." She didn't want to say, but she was happy she wouldn't be there. Andrew had been trying to help her get better scores, he was eighth.
"Callis! Your eleventh!" She remembered coming out of her class, he'd picked her up and spun her in the air, black hair flying around her head, she had been wearing the tulle poodle skirt (minus a poodle) she had just made in class..
"Callie... we need you in the forest! Your so good with the animals!" Vanessa put her hands on Callis', wrapping her fingers around hers. Her hands were so soft, and her nails were a matching pink to her skirt.. And the flowers in her hair.
Callis rolled her eyes, it was true and all the other princesses made fun of her for it. Callis grew up talking to the animals in camelot, wishing they could get a dog, or a rabbit.. Or anything.
"I guess." She muttered, she looked down at their hands intertwined.
"SHUT UP IVORY!"
The two girl's heads whipped up to see Coventina standing above Ivory. Coventina's hair looked like it was fire whipping in the air, her mascara was streaked, the tiny Ivory sitting across from her, her arms were crossed and her eyes glared upon Coventina.
"I can say whatever I want!" Ivory's voice wasn't the usual squeak anymore.
"NOT IF IT HURTS ME!" Coventina yelled back, pointing a long talon like finger at her, tears streaming down her face. Murmurs between all the good students hissed. There were three girls sitting at the table watching the two, eyes darting between them.
"IT'S THE TRUTH. YOUR GAY. THAT'S THE TRUTH, CT!" Ivory shouted, she was standing.
She was barely five foot, it was almost like she wasn't standing. Callis tapped her foot on the grass.
Everyone knew. Ivory and Coventina were always holding hands, not to mention Ivory's face anytime after eight was covered in Coventina's lipstick.
Like, always.
"YOU DON'T GET TO CALL ME THAT! OR JUST SAY THAT!" Coventina's hair really seemed as if it would burn right off her and into the blue forest. She could set flame to the whole school.
Tiny Ivory stood tall, protecting the little ground she took up. Coventina looked at the ground for a few seconds before running away and back to the school.
"Oh" Vanessa muttered watching Coventina run away.
"You didn't know?" Callis muttered, squinting at her.
"no. I thought they were just good friends like us?" Vanessa watched as Ivory sunk back on to her pillow, hiding her tears.
"well." Callis shrugged and stole another maccaron from Vanesssa's plate.
"there are those two princes" Callis added, eating the lemon maccaron with a moan, "these are so good oh my go-"
"two princes???" Vanessa stared at Callis.
"Yea. How do I know more about this???" Callis muttered the last part, Vanessa was the popular one, she should know this kind of stuff.
"can we talk about the trial? Please?" Vanessa sighed and grabbed an orange, peeling it with her long nails.
"yea.. what do you want to say?" Callis grabbed yet another maccaron, this one berry flavored.
"well, are you going to get your score up? So you can join us?" Vanessa was curious. She needed her in the trial.
"fine. Sure" Callis told her, eyes moving all over the empty plate.
"Andrew's going to be there an-"
Callis left the table with an eye roll. Everything came back to Andrew in conversations. Goodness.
That's when she saw Coventina in the forest-y entrance sitting on a branch that bridged only a few feet from the ceiling.
