Mike's POV
It was just another July day in Hawkins. The gang and I were planning on going to the lake to swim. We were going out of my house when we saw that the house right next to mine was finally sold. Who would live there now? Sure hope it wouldn't be some freak or a loud mouthbreather.
We saw the car parked in front of the house. It was a nice Chevrolet truck and it was filled with boxes in the back seat.
I could not see what the boxes had written on them but i noticed a small pink dress was on top of one, so I assumed this person had a daughter. I thought it could be cool to have a next door neighbour who was my age. All of my friends lived on different neighbourhoods. We didn't think much of it because we didn't even see my future neighbours anywhere so we went to the lake.

We had a blast on the lake this afternoon. It was so hot so the water was so nicely cold and we had so much fun. Max and I made a competition of who could last longer under water without breathing. Of course she won because she's just spectacularly skilled. Everytime she wins something she smiles so hard that you can not be mad, she feels so happy. And whenever Max is happy, Lucas is happy. I seriously believe they are soulmates. They complete eachother and get along better than anyone else.
Dustin, Will and I let them have their privacy while they were out there making out in one corner of the lake so we made swimming races and just splashed around for hours. It was great and we were going home now.As soon as I say goodbye to the gang before I turned into my neighbouhood's street I saw them.
He was a tall man, much taller than me. And that was a lot considering I was 5"10. He had sort of dirty blonde hair and beard and had a caring but also terrifying look on his face - like he could kill you if you messed with what he loved. And I saw what he loved aswell.
There she was. The girl that owned that pink dress. Getting out of the car. What a different girl.
She had very short hair, that's something you never see in Hawkins since Barb died. She used to have hair like that, cut short like a boyish hairstyle. Since she was gone, people thought that cutting their hair like that would bring them bad luck or something so my mom never cut my hair short again. And thank God because I love my long messy curls.
That girl was holding the man's hand so I assumed she was his daughter. They were getting in their house by the time I arrived at mine.
I said hi to my mom and dad, kissed my baby sister Holly, fistbumped my sister Nancy and got upstairs to take a bath.
When I got out of the shower, I noticed, as I entered my bedroom, that the girl's bedroom was the one right in front of mine. I was wearing nothing but a towel on my waist so I quickly closed the curtains so she wouldn't see me and she didn't. She was talking to her father inside the room, maybe discussing about where to put the chair or the lamp.
I peaked through the curtains, opening just a little gap in them, just so I could see their faces better. She was so much more different than Max. This girl was a brunette with intense brown eyes and a soft pink skin.
Oh wow, she's pretty, I thought.
