Through the Years

18- Perfect

We hear the DJ playing music. People around the room. Some dancing, some talking and some sleeping on the floor. Kayla and Cameron are walking hand in hand into the room.

Kayla: "What time is it?"

Cameron: "3:30 in the morning."

Everyone glances at them as they walk through the room, making Kayla insecure once again. She stops walking.

Kayla: "Maybe we should get a drink at the bar."

Cameron looks at people in the room and then back at Kayla. We hear the song "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran come on. Cameron has a smile on his face and tugs Kayla toward the dance floor.

Cameron: "I actually have a better idea."

Kayla: "Cam, no! Come on..."

Cameron laughs as he drag Kayla to a spot on the dance floor. They start dancing with a few other couples. Kayla resting her head on Cameron's chest and Cameron resting his chin on the top of Kayla's head.

Cameron: "I will never forget our first slow dance."

Kayla: "You mean the time I was about to walk past you at that charity event and you purposely tripped me, used a cheesy pick up line when you caught me, then demanded I dance with you in order to make it up to me."

Cameron: "If I remember correctly, you tripped on your own two feet, I just checked to see if you were okay after I caught you, then asked if I could buy you a drink. You were the one who demanded I dance with you."

Kayla: "So you asking, "What time do you have to be back in heaven?" wasn't a pick up line?"

Cameron: "And you answering, "the same time as Cinderella" wasn't your way of flirting with me?"

Kayla looks up at Cameron trying not to smile. Cameron gives Kayla a kiss on the forehead as they continue dancing.

Cameron: "You know the funny thing about that night is that I didn't even want to go to that event and it ended up being the second best night of my life."

Kayla: "What night is first?"

Cameron: "I'll let you know when we get out of here."

Kayla shakes her head. She looks over Krystal shoulder and sees her dancing with a man. Kayla also takes notice to the engagement ring on her left hand.

Kayla: "She's engaged?"

Cameron: "What?"

Kayla: "Krystal...I didn't know she was engaged."

Cameron looks from Krystal to Kayla.

Cameron: "They look like a good couple. But we look so much better."

Kayla laughs and kisses Cameron.

Kayla: "Thank you for coming with me. I never thanked you earlier."

Cameron: "Of course, Ace."

Kayla: "I know I was acting crazy when we got here. And I'm sorry you had to put up with that. I just don't want to loose you."

Cameron: "And you won't. I not going anywhere. I promise."

Kayla nods her head and gives Cameron a hug.

Cameron: "Did I ever tell you I had a crush on you...before we met that night?"

KAYLA

No, I don't believe you did.

Cameron: "If anyone ever asked me who my favorite actress was, I'd say you."

Kayla: "Yeah right."

Cameron: "It's true!"

Kayla: "But why?"

Cameron: "Because I believed there was something different about you compared to all the other women in the industry."

Kayla chuckles in disbelief.

Cameron: "And I was right."

Kayla gives Cameron a big smiles. Cameron leans his forehead onto Kayla's as the song comes to an end.

Cameron: "I don't deserve this, you look perfect tonight."

They stop dancing as Cameron leans in to kiss Kayla. They pull away as the song comes to an end and everyone on the dance floor starts to leave.
