~Hayes POV~
When I woke up in the morning, Carter was holding me. I had a pain on my neck. I slowly moved from his grasp trying not to wake him. I let a quiet sigh of relief when it worked. I stretched and walked to the bathroom. I looked at my neck in the mirror.
"Dammit" I mumbled feeling the bruise on my neck with my fingers I cringed at the pain. I put my hand over the bruise hearing a knock at the door. I slowly walked to the door opening it.
"hello?" I asked acting like I had just woken up by rubbing my neck
"Hey Hayes food is here just to let you know..." Cam says
"Thanks Cam..." I said walking out of the room shutting the door behind me
"Whoa Hayes is that a hickey?" Cam asked surprised
My eyes widened and I slapped my hand over the bruise "Uhhhhhhhh" I said
Cam moved my hand away from the bruise and lifted my chin into the light "Yep sure enough." he says looking down at me. He smiled at my reddened cheeks. "Is this your first hickey?" he asked
I nodded shyly
"So that's why your embarrassed." He smiled with a small laugh "It's okay Hayes it's only a hickey, now let's get some food." he says walking downstairs
I let out a sigh. it wasn't just a hickey it was a hickey Carter gave to me. The worst part is that he probably won't remember. I followed Cameron down the stairs. I kept my head down as I grabbed my breakfast burritos from McDonald's and sat down at the table to eat.
I heard Nash's voice as he walked down the stairs with Cam. "Hey little brother why so down?" he asked. I looked up and him as he got his food. "Holy crap is that a hickey?" he asked
I nodded "Yes Nash it is now leave me alone." I snapped standing up and leaving the table with my head down running right into Carter.
My eyes went wide. I looked up at him. He looked down at me his eyes were wide. "Hey..." he said
I looked away from his eyes and ran from him up to the room where I slept last night. I locked the door behind me and turned away from it and leaned against it. I slid down slowly and put my hands in my hair as tears slid down my cheeks.I couldn't believe it. I like Carter. I really liked Carter. I pulled my knees to my chest and put my head on my knees. I cried. I finally stood up and walked to the bed. I laid face down and cried into a pillow.
"Hayes.. let me in..' Carter said knocking on the door quietly.
I looked at the door and sighed getting off the bed and walking to open it. I just wanted him to hug me and tell me that it's okay. I shook my head one more time trying to keep those thoughts away from my head. I slowly opened the door and looked at Carter's face. More tears formed in my eyes and I looked away from him. "come i-" I was cut off as Carter threw his arms around me.
"Hayes please don't cry..." he said stroking my hair soothingly
I tangled my hands in his shirt and cried more. "Carter...' I said quietly as he shut the door behind him as we slowly made our way across the room.
'Hayes I know what's wrong." he said laying me down on the bed and laying beside me
I cuddled my face into his chest and breathed him in it calmed me down.
"I know what I did last night, I knew exactly what I was doing just like I said to you." he said still stroking my hair "It must've scared you the way I was acting..." he said "but ever since after you fainted and woke up yesterday When we almost kissed, the way you looked at my lips and into my eyes. I knew you had after all this time I've known you, you finally had the same feelings for me as I did to you." he said quietly
My heart started pounding quicker and quicker "Carter I-" he put his finger to my lips and kissed me gently
Then I woke up from that wonderful dream that terrified me.
