Once in a while, I like to write down what a day in my life is like. It's just something I find really cool to read years down the road to see how my life has changed over time.
So here is what my typical Tuesday day is like this semester.
6:11 am - It's still dark out since its winter. I manage to drag myself out of bed after hitting the snooze button about three times.
6:30 - after washing my face, I head downstairs to the kitchen. Lately, I have been loving avocado toasts so I go make one. I like to season mine with salt, pepper, and lemon juice. I also eat some congee leftover from last night's dinner.
7:01 - I catch a school special bus to to take me too the train station. The bus bypasses the morning traffic with its special lane, so I am usually on time.
7:30 - I am at the train station and I get on the one heading towards University. The train is pretty full, but today I find a spot where I am not squeezed against a horde of people so yay! However, the early morning wakeup is already taking a toll on me and my stomach starts feeling queezy.
7:40 - I finally arrive on the University campus. Since there's 20 minutes before my first class, starts, I go to the washroom to brush my teeth (as I didn't do it back home due to lack of time)
8:00 am - Time for my first class, engineering law. The professor who teaches this class is a professional engineer AND lawyer. But today he is away for an arbitration job, so another lawyer is substituting for him. I like this class a lot because I have always been fascinated by laws and rules. We even learned what what happens when you get sued!
9:20 am - with first class over, I head to the building next over to grab some books fr my locker. I prolong my visit to the locker as long as possible because I don't want to be stuck sitting in the uncomfortable chairs of the classroom.
9:30 am - time for my next class, construction methods. Blair is in this class but today, I couldn't find her. So I go to the back to sit by myself.
10:40 am - my construction class ends ten minutes early. I was happy about this because I get 20 minutes to myself. I use the bathroom, make another trip to the locker, and chat with Blair for a bit.
11:00 am - my last class of the morning is water resources design. I sit with Haley, who is in the same lab group as me for this class. It's cool because she has been in most of my my classes since first year but we had different friend circles so we never really talked. Haley is smart, tall, slim, pretty, and dresses well so I have always envied her (wanted to be her!). She is also really nice so I am quite happy to sit beside her.
12:10 pm - my class ends early again and I follow Haley and her friend, Pablo, who is also in our lab group toward the open study area upstairs. We have 1.5 hours for lunch before our afternoon lab session starts so we use out lunch time to start working on it.
2:00 pm - after a nice lunch spent with Haley, Pablo, and their group of friends, half chatting and half working, the three of us trudge to our lab session.
2:30 pm - we are in the midst of the lab. The task is to model the height of floodwaters for a rural river a few hours south of town. We are using a computer program called HEC-RAS and the three of us struggle to figure things out.
4:35 pm - we finally finish modelling the flood. My butt is stiff from sitting in the hard chairs all day and my stomach is starving. I say goodbye to Haley and Pablo and head home.
5:21 pm - riding on the bus somewhere on the highway. The sky is beginning to darken and streetlights are beginning to come on. I listen to my trusty iPod nano. The song of the day is - Comme Des Enfants, by Coeur De Pirate, which is an old favourite that I recently rediscovered.
6:15 pm - at home, eating dinner with mom. She is due at work in ten minutes. Dad's watching Chinese TV and Zoe's at some after school program.
7:20 pm - I'm so tired from this exhausting day that I almost fall asleep on my bed. But no, I drag myself up to work on an assignment for construction class. I have to research and write about eco houses and I do that until 9.
9:33 pm - I am in bed now, about to go to sleep. It's been a long day and I cannot wait to get some rest
