It feels like so much has happened in the past five days that I am still reeling from the after effects. I think the best way is to summarize the events here in point form.
Thursday
- Had the final exam for my construction methods class in the morning, scheduled at 9 am.
- On the way there, I met Stella while we were both waiting for the train. She also has an exam at 9 so we spent thirty minutes before our exams cramming together.
- My exam went fine. I thought I lucked out because all the things I studied showed up on the exam.
- Went to sleep that night feeling motivated to do a whole day of studying tomorrow.Friday
- Woke up at 6 am by an urge to use the toilet. It was the runs.
- Stomach started hurting after I came back from the toilet. Went to bed to get more sleep but had to get up again and again to use the toilet.
- Kept dry heaving into the toilet bowl. Since I hadn't eaten anything, only bile came out.
- Thought I had been food poisoned. Was scared that it was E. Coli or something lethal, so made an appointment to see the doctor.
- Saw the doctor at noon. By this time, my stomach was hurting so bad that I could barely stand.
- The doctor confirmed it was a stomach virus and prescribed some medicine and bedrest for at least three days.Saturday
- Stayed in bed all drinking mixtures of Gatorade and water as prescribed by the doctor.
- Did zero studying.
- Ate nothing so was starving. But at least my stomach no longer hurt.Sunday
- Started eating some food in small portions.
- Texted Addie saying I am sick and will have to defer my last two final exams on Tuesday. Addie warned against deferring two exams as I will have to write both of them in February of next term.
- Decided to listen to Addie and write one exam for my water resources class and defer the other one for my electrical circuits class.Monday
- With the exam in one day, I finally got out of bed, showered, ate a small slice of bread, and left the house to study at school.
- Met up with Addie at school. She was studying with Z and K, two other girls in our year. We ended up studying for our water resources exam together.
- There were so many things to remember (ie: At what river velocity does border ice form at?) so we quizzed each other on them.
- Of course, a study session is not complete without some gossiping. (I should really stop but I think it's quite harmless when done right). Learned some not-so-nice stuff about another girl in our year named S even though I already knew about her bad reputation. And this brings us back to Tuesday again, which is today. I wrote the exam this morning and I think it went alright as I managed to answer all of the questions. Afterwards, I went home and slept for six hours straight.
Now it's two in the morning and I am only starting to feel sleepy a bit. My stomach still feels funny, however, I hope I didn't catch another virus.
Tomorrow, I have to get a blood test for some skin related health problems not related to the stomach virus. As a result, I have to fast for eight hours prior so I guess I am not eating breakfast again. I just hope I survive because I have always been deathly afraid of blood.
On a side note, I think I'm going to read the New Yorker before sleeping now. Good old Stella bought me a subscription as my Christmas gift so I do not have borrow them from the library anymore. There's just something so lovely about holding a physical copy of the magazine that has not been read by anyone else before you so I'm gonna enjoy some downtime after this hectic ordeal!
