As you can see, I was in the middle of writing on Sunday when I was rudely interrupted. I can't even remember how I was interrupted because I've been so busy.
But back to the topic of the new dog. Luna is messy, energetic, big, and does not rest, ever. In fact, I've never seen her lie down to relax. She is always shoving her nose into things and getting into trouble.
On the first day that she was here, I put a cup of pomegranate juice onto the coffee table. When I had my back turned, 'clack', went the cup and all its contents onto the floor, all within the timespan of a few seconds.
When I tried to clean up the spilled juice with some toilet paper from the bathroom, Luna jumped and grabbed the toilet paper from my hand. I had to chase her down to stop her from eating the soggy toilet paper.
Oreo does not like having Luna here, as he's always been a little attention-whore (I mean that affectionately) and does not want to share the attention he receives as an only dog. Whenever anyone pays Luna attention by either patting her head or petting her back, Oreo would run over to growl and bark.
Over the past weekend when Zoe's friends came, they cooed over Luna so much that Oreo started whining and crying. I felt bad for him so I gave him a hug and some cookies, but he still whined, that spoilt brat.
Our house had also gone through many changes since Luna arrived.
First of all, everything had to be puppy-proofed again. It's like toddler-proofing your house where everything on the tables had to be put away into closets or onto shelves where Luna cannot reach (a daunting task considering Luna is about a meter tall when she stands up).
All the doors on our first floor have to remain closed at all times now. This includes the bathroom, the study den, the door to the basement stairs, and the laundry room/garage exit.
All of mom's potted plants were moved from the living room to the study den as well since Luna tried to take a bite out of one of them and mom freaked out (those plants are her source of pride).
We've also had to keep the plant watering cans empty since Luna loves to tip them over, spilling giant puddles of water onto the hardwood floor. (I've spent countless hours wiping up her spills in the first few days). I felt sorry for Oreo since he loves to drink the water from here. He walked there tonight to take a drink only to find the cans empty.
The list of things she does just goes on and on. It reminded me of back when Zoe was a baby and had to be watched at all times. It was so much work and made me not want to be a mom for a long time!
Good thing dogs can be kept in garages (and babies can't). And this is where we've been keeping Luna so she does not get into more trouble.
We've also been letting her into the house around three times a day to socialize and walk around. But whenever that happens, someone has to keep an eye on her so she doesn't destroy something.
Needless to say, everyone's lost their patience at this point and we are all looking for the day when Luna goes back to her home.
At least she's cute though.
