Chapter 16
I walked in and it felt like the room stretched. It looked a lot bigger in the inside than the outside view of the house.
I saw her dad in the chair next to the window."Hello sir, I'm Taylor."
"Yea she's talked a lot about you and I've seen you play. Your pretty good for a 16 year old."
"Thank you sir and you have a wonderful daughter. She's the reason I play so hard."
"What? What are we doing hard? Sorry I couldn't hear you."
"Oh, I play hard. So I can be in the big leagues."
"So your serious about this sport? I want that for my daughter. I like your moxie kid."He slapped me on the back the way Clide once did when I first sat down with them in 8th grade.
"Dad? Can Taylor stay over tonight? He's having some family issues."
"Sure it would be a pleasure!"
"Thank you sir." I shook his hand.Autumn's mom came with a apron on from the kitchen. She automatically hugged my neck.
"Oh Taylor. What a cutie."
"Mom..."
"Sorry. So I have a place for you in the guest bedroom. It's upstairs."
"Thank you ma'am."
"Oh and a gentleman!"I headed upstairs with Autumn.
"I'm right next door so if you need anything just ask okay?"
"Can I see your room?"
"Yea hold on."She whispered through the crack of her door. She must have been cleaning it because I heard the vacuum go off.
"Okay come in."
"Wow. It's huge."
"Yea, I kinda love my room. Sorry Taylor!"
"None taken. Hey where's your bats?"
"Oh in my closet. See?"
"Gosh how many do you have?"
"I'm not sure, but I've done softball since I was 5, so I have all kinds of lengths."They were so many bats around the wall that I could barely find where I came out of the closet from.

"Thanks Mrs. I just needed a place to stay while me and my dad cool off from each other."
"No stay as long as you need."
"Thanks, and you have a wonderful daughter."
"Yea we have raised her well haven't we?"
"Yes you have. She's just so great."
"Well I'm lucky you're dating her."
"Do you mind by me asking something?"She sat down next to me as I leaned up propping my head against the headboard.
"No, what's the matter?"
"What does she say about me?"
"She says your the love of her life, and that's the only thing that she's told me."
"Wow. Well she's mine too." I laughed.
"Well night. If you need anything it's down stairs so help yourself okay?"
"Yea thank you but Autumn has me covered."
