The next weeks passed quickly and I spent as much time with Jerod as I could, but we were both busy with the demands of school. Before I knew it, homecoming had arrived. Homecoming week was always one of my favorites. I loved dressing over the top and the dance was always great. Things between Jerod and me had gotten much better at school. He was doing better as far as treating me like a normal student and I was doing better not getting as upset when the slutty girls in class would flirt shamelessly with him. He didn't respond, he would just answer their questions and move on.

On Wednesday the bell rang after Chemistry and I got up to go get my stuff so I could go home. "Ms. Fox? Could you please wait a minute?" I nodded and turned and rolled my eyes at Addley. She gave me a sympathetic yet jealous look and walked out. When the door closed, I smiled at Jerod.

"Yeah?" I wanted to kiss him so bad it was rediculous, but we had a rule, we didn't have any physical contact at school, even behind closed doors.

"When is the homecoming dance?" Wait. What? That's what he kept me behind to ask me?

"Um, Friday night. Why?" I was seriously confused right now.

Jerod smiled. "Perfect. Would you like to go to a party with me at my friend's house on Saturday night? It's a Halloween party. No one would know us and I thought it would be fun to slip away and have our own couple time."

My whole face lit up. "I would love to! And that works out great because I can still go to the dance with my friends." I was so happy.

"Sounds great. I'll see you later." He leaned down to kiss me, but I stepped back.

"We can't do that, not here. I don't want to take any chances of us getting caught." I waved goodbye and grabbed my bag to go find Addley. When we got to her car, she turned to me.

"Alright Lily, spill. I want to know about your boyfriend. I've been hounding you about it forever now and you won't say anything. I want to know about your mystery boyfriend." She looked upset and curious at the same time.

"What? Addley, knock it off." I tried to blow off the situation, but I knew that she wouldn't let me get away with it.

"No. You tell me about your boyfriend or we're going to spend the night in the parking lot of the school. Now, come on, I'm your best friend. I deserve to know when you're dating someone."

"Ok fine." I rolled my eyes at her. "Well, his name is Jerod. He's smart and he's funny and he's so hot. He makes me feel things that I'm not used to feeling. Every day is like a surprise with him. I think I'm falling in love Addley." I was as surprised to hear myself say that.

"Lily! You are? Oh, I'm so happy for you! Okay, now I need to meet him!" I cringed. I was afraid that would come up. Addley was the persistent type. If she wanted to meet Jerod, she wasn't going to let up until she met him. I seriously needed to discuss with Jerod ASAP.

"Well, it's a little more complicated than that. He's older than us. He's in his twenties, so I'm still trying to convince him that being with a high school girl is a good idea. If you meet him, the guys will want to meet him and I don't want to scare him away with my pack of friends questioning him." It sounded a little jumbled, even to me. But it worked.

"Alright. I don't have a dress for Friday yet, do you?" I realized when she said it that I had completely forgotten about getting a homecoming dress.

"No! Shoot. Let's go to the mall after school tomorrow. I also need to find something to wear for this Halloween party that Jerod invited me to. It's on Saturday." I looked out the window, making a mental list of everything I needed."

Addley made a high pitched squealing sound that made me plug my ears. "Oh, I bet it's a college party! With college guys! Oh my gosh! I'm so jealous! You have to find a super sexy costume. Maybe you could be like a naughty police officer or something." She gave a small laugh and I could tell her mind was working to come up with something slutty for me to wear on Halloween.

"Addley, calm down. It's not that big of a deal. I've been to parties with him before. And we'll figure out my Halloween costume after I get a homecoming dress."

"Have you and Jerod, you know, done it yet?" Addley's question caught me off guard, causing my eyes to go wide.

"No, we haven't. Not yet." I honestly wasn't sure when Jerod and I would take that next step. If he wouldn't have stopped, it probably would have happened that night at the beach. "We're not really together alone long enough for anything to happen. When we go out, Jerod always picks me up and brings me home. I can't really spend the night at his place without my parents knowing, and as far as they know, our relationship is nothing serious."

"Well if you want, you can tell your parents that you're staying at my house on Saturday night. Even if nothing happens, you'll get to spend time with him at his apartment. You'll be somewhere more private." She raised her eyebrows suggestively. Addley dropped me off at my house and rolled down her window. "Shopping tomorrow, don't forget it!" She yelled. I rolled my eyes. The entire neighborhood probably heard her. Addley honked her horn a couple of times before driving way to fast away from my house.

I started to think about what my crazy best friend had said and decided to take her up on the offer. I wasn't sure if Jerod would want me to stay at his apartment on Saturday night. If he didn't want me to, then I could always stay at Carissa and Scott's or I could actually stay at Addley's. I went into my house and found my parents, who said that of course I could stay at Addley's on Saturday night. I smiled.
