August came and I started my online classes as my friends moved away to college. My belly grew bigger and Jerod and I didn't talk unless we were at the doctor's office. We weren't mad at each other, we had just grown apart enough that if we weren't talking about the baby, we simply had nothing to talk about. Plus, school had started and he was busy teaching. We told my parents about our relationship and came clean about Jerod being my teacher shortly after graduation. They both had freaked out and my dad had threatened Jerod and told him that he was going to kill him for getting me pregnant and get him arrested for having a relationship with a student. When they found out that we were broken up, they freaked out all over again and then they both had a long talk with Jerod about stepping up and still being there for his child. It took a while, but eventually, my parents got over it and accepted Jerod as the father of their future grandchild. Carissa and Scott's wedding day came before anyone was ready, but I was excited to watch my sister get married to the man that she loved so much.
The morning of the wedding, Carissa picked me up way earlier than I would have liked to get up. But, we had hair appointments that we had to attend. When we got back to the church, I slipped into my made of honor dress. It was a knee length baby blue one shoulder dress. The strap was covered in flowers and the dress was flowy. I liked it because it was comfortable and easy to move in despite my pregnant belly.
Jerod and I met up about an hour before the ceremony so that the photographer could take some pictures of some of the wedding party. He smiled at me. "You look beautiful."
I smiled. "Thanks. You don't look too bad yourself either." Truth is, he looked so amazingly hot in his suit that all I wanted to do was kiss him at that moment. The photographer called us over and took several pictures of us. The ceremony started and Jerod and I walked down the aisle together as the best man and made of honor. After the other bridesmaids and groomsmen walked down and were standing in the front of the church, music started to play and my beautiful big sister started walking down the middle fo the church, escorted by my father. She looked happier than I had ever seen her look and there were tears already forming in her eyes. I looked over at Scott. From the look on his face, I could tell that he loved my sister more than anything else in this world and that he couldn't wait to call her his wife.
After a heartfelt and tear filled ceremony, we took many more pictures and headed off to the reception. After Carissa danced with our dad and Scott danced with his mom, they danced together as husband and wife for the first time. Then, the floor opened up and everyone started to dance. Jerod came over to me. "Want to dance?" I smiled and got up. We wrapped our arms around eachother and started to turn in slow circles.
I looked into his eyes and had the urge again to kiss him. "How are things going at school?" I asked him.
He smiled. "Oh you know, just annoying high school kids." We both laughed.
"Oh yeah, they're the worst." We were making light and sort of awkward conversation, but at least we weren't talking about anything too deep. I hated that we had grown so far apart, but at least we weren't fighting all of the time like we were when we were together. We both knew that us being apart was for the best right now. The song ended and we pulled away from each other. We danced together a few more times but for the most part, Jerod and I spent the night apart from each other.
After Scott and Carissa got home from their honeymoon, Carissa helped me make the final baby preparations. We didn't know if we were having a boy or a girl, so we had chosen ducks as our baby theme. Our crib bedding was white with yellow ducks on it and our stroller, car seat, and bassinet were all a light green that complimented the yellow nicely. I had saved enough money to get my own apartment. It was hard, but I was going to make it work for me and the baby. Between the baby shower that Addley had thrown for me, the baby shower that Carissa had thrown me, and the stuff that Jerod and I bought, we had everything that we needed.
