The sound of the piano and violin filled the large church as guests began to arrive. Large bouquets of roses were displayed around the alter and gold ribbon lined the pews. I focused on the song that was being played as Diana finished my makeup. Once she was done, she stepped back to examine her work. She looked strikingly beautiful in her blush pink floor length dress. The gold jewelry complemented her skin tone. I turned to look at myself in the mirror. The crystals on my cathedral veil shimmered in the light. I smoothed the front of my vintage white dress. I reminded myself of the elegant bride doll that my grandmother had in her house when I was a kid.
"Let's start the show." Diana said as she picked up her bouquet of daisies.
We linked arms and giggled at one another as we headed out the side door to walk around the church to the front door. When we heard Canon D start to play I quickly checked Diana over before she led the way. Leah and one of her friends, Becky, was behind her. There was a pause then I heard the Wedding March start to play. My heart slammed against my chest and I took a deep breath in. This was the big moment. This was the beginning to my life of eternal happiness.
I stepped forward into the church. Everyone's eyes were on me. Some of them I recognized while others I'd never seen before. I locked my gaze on the most important pair of eyes in there, Larc's.
After the ceremony we went to the hotel that our reception was at. Everyone watched us cut our cake and feed one another then they gathered to make their plates. Afterward they all spilled onto the dance floor as the dj started to play music.
"Where's Diana?" Larc said as he leaned in so I could hear him better.
"Probably hooking up with Jared, I haven't seen her in a while." I rolled my eyes but laughed.
"Gross. Here come with me, I have something to tell you." Larc grabbed my hand and led me away from the crowd and music. He took me out of the event room. It was so quiet compared to the party.
"You know how Theo and Lance follow me around?" Larc asked
"Yea? Are those two idiots going to start following me around? I don't think they'd provide much protection." I giggled under my breath.
"No." Larc shot me a look, "You'll have your own. If you go anywhere without me and when you're at the house he will be there with you. We know and deal with a lot of different kinds of people Edie. Not all of them are friends. I just want to keep you safe." Larc gave me a quick kiss before pulling me around the corner.
A tall slim but muscular man was leaning against the wall. He had shoulder length soft brown hair and bright green eyes. His clean shaved face looked as if it should belong to a Greek god. I quickly brought my gaze to the floor and started to blush.
"Edie this is Zander. Zander this is Edith but you can call her Mrs.Novak or Edie. It's her choice." Larc then turned and looked at me, "His going to be I guess you can say bodyguard. If I can't go with you somewhere, he will."
"Hi." I looked up to see it was Zander talking to me. His voice was deeper than what he looked like it would.
I stuck my hand out and warmly smiled, "Nice to meet you. You can call me Edie. Everyone else does and I don't think I'm old enough to be Mrs.Novak yet." I chuckled under my breath and he smiled back.
After getting to know one another we went back into the party. We all hung around the bar together and talked. Larc and Zander had grew up together and thought of one another as a brother. It didn't take long until I felt the same way about Zander. He was going to be like the older brother I never had. We all three went to the dance floor. When I saw Diana, a waved her over. She immediately came and started dancing with us. We were having the time of our lives.
