Edith POV
"Morning Sunshine. How'd you sleep?"

"Ugh." I groaned out.

While holding my head a I shuffled into the kitchen and sat down. In no time Zander had a cup of black coffee in front of me with asprin.

"Thanks."

"No problem. You look like you had a rough night." He chuckled.

"How are you so bright and not hungover?"

I didn't try to hide the annoyance in my voice. I've never been able to hold my liquor very well. Apparently Zander does.

He gave me a slight smile before walking back to the stove. A few minutes later he came over with omelets and fresh fruit. As I ate the fruit and switched from coffee to water, I began to feel better.

"So you want to go out and do it all over again tonight?"

I glared at him while he began to laugh loudly.

Yeah right, not ever.

Three week later

"Happy Birthday!"

I came into the kitchen greeted by the smell of french toast and Zander. My eyes lit up when I saw that he had the kitchen table decorated in turquoise and daisies. I made my way over to sit down when he brought over a plate of french toast and strawberries.

"Thank you, this is definitely a surprise."

"And this isn't where the surprises end either my dear. Today is going to be full of surprises." Zander smiled as excitement played in his eyes.

I raised an eyebrow at him while chewing a mouthful of toast.

This is going to be fun.

"I'll be right back."

I nodded as I watched him disappear up the stairs. After several minutes I finished eating and decided to go upstairs to get ready for my day of surprises. When I opened my bedroom door, there was a large box laid out on the bed. On top of the box that read:

Put this on
-xoxo

I opened the box and pulled out the outfit. It was a beautiful soft rose colored blouse and a gold skirt with nude pumps to finish it off. I smiled to myself and rushed to put it on.

I wish Larc would do stuff like this still.
I quickly pushed the thoughts of Larc out of my head. The man stays gone and drunk so much now that I'm so close to losing hope. He rushed off to work this morning without even uttering a good morning let alone happy birthday.

"You look great." Zander said as I came down the stairs. I gave him a little wink and grabbed his arm to head outside.

He took me downtown to the zoo, which was one of my favorite places to go. When we got to the giraffes I sat on the bench and pull out a sketch pad.

"You never leave home without it, huh?" Zander chuckled as he sat beside me.

I gave him a smile as I started to carefully place my lines. The giraffes looked so peaceful in their area. Their slow movements were graceful. I imagined walking along with them not having a care or concern.

"Are you hungry?" Zander asked while holding my hand as we made our way back to the car.

I nodded my head as I climbed in.
"Where are we going to eat?" I asked.

"Somewhere I think you'll enjoy very much."

Puzzled, but amused I shrugged my shoulders and eaten to see where we stopped. It wasn't until we were a few blocks away that I was pretty sure I knew where we were going. When Zander stopped the car I climbed out and walked up to the old familiar door. The same broken neon sign hung in the window. I shook my head to myself then turned to Zander behind me.
