" Edie orders up!" Lenny yelled out as he tapped the bell. I made my way to the window and grabbed the burger plates and carried them to the table.

"Here ya go. Can I get you anything else? Ketchup?" I had my customer service smile plastered on my face. They shook their heads no and I walked back to the register to pick my book up. It's a slow night so I have time to read.

"Hey, your admirer and his friends just walked in. That's three times this week." Lenny nodded his head toward the door while smiling. I rolled my eyes at him without looking up from my book.

"He's not my admirer Lenny. He just likes the food here."

"Nobody likes the food here that much." Lenny couldn't help himself but to laugh. I shot him a glare and hopped off my stool to take their order.

They had become regulars. They came in once or twice a week for about a month now and almost always ordered the same thing everytime.

"What can I get you?" I had my pen and pad ready to write three cheese burger baskets with onion rings.

"We will just get three cheeseburger baskets but with onion rings."

Shocker

"Coming right up" I flashed a smile at them before walking off. The one with the piercing blue eyes smiled back at me. I felt the heat rise in my face. I tried not to think about what Lenny said about him having interest in me. What would a guy that good looking want with me.

After a few minutes their order was ready and I carried it out to them. I was almost to the table when I tripped and stumbled forward. I managed to save two of the baskets from falling onto the floor.

"I'm so sorry about that I'll go get another one. Here's these two." I looked up and saw him staring at me smiling.

Well Edith there's your shot gone.

He slid the baskets in front of the two guys in front of him then looked back at me. " That's okay you don't have to bring another and I'll pay for that one."

"Are you sure? Lenny can make another one real quick." I felt bad for splattering his dinner in the floor. He shook his head no and I started walking away from the table.

"Hey, wait. Since you did throw my food on the floor and all, could I at least get your number?" A playful smile started to spread across his face as he stared into my eyes.

I shifted nervously from foot to foot as I smiled shyly. "Maybe next time." I tried to make it sound as smoothly as I could as I casually walked away from the table.

I started my nightly cleaning as I replayed the scenario in my head wondering what I could've done differently to make it better.

He probably thinks I'm a total idiot now.

"Register is closed out and the money is in the bag. I'm gonna head out now. Goodnight Lenny." I pulled my coat on over my uniform. The temperature was dropping and I was sure snow would fall any minute.

"See ya tomorrow." Lenny called out without looking up from scrubbing the grill.

I walked out the door and started down the street. I only had three blocks to walk to get to my apartment. After a few minutes of walking I heard someone calling out. When I turned around it was the guy from the diner.

" Hey you want a ride it's pretty cold out." He pointed back to a black Chrysler.

" Its okay. I don't live far from here. Thanks anyway." I nervously twirled a piece of my hair as I answered back. I didn't want to make a fool of myself twice in one day.

"Come on, I can't just leave a beautiful girl like you walking home alone late at night." He leaned up against his car and ran his hand through his thick hair.

I looked at him full of suspicion. I took a few steps more in the direction of my apartment when I called out to him.

"How do I know you're not trying to kidnap me, or kill me?" I bit my lower lip as I waited for him to answer.

"I guess you don't." He chuckled when he said it. "But I can assure you that neither are my intentions."

"And what are your intentions?" I was trying my best to sound flirty as I stood their eyeing him.

" I'm not completely sure yet, but they're all good. Some are amazing."

I quickly felt the heat rise on my face as I blushed at what he was implying by the last part. I nervously played with my hair as I contemplated my options.

I'm sure he's harmless. Let's give him a shot. He is sexy.

I frowned at my own judgment before I rolled my eyes then walked closer to him.

"Alright, but straight to my apartment no stops anywhere else. Got it? And I'm Edith by the way."

"Larc." He grabbed my hand and brought it up to his lips before letting me slip into the car. Once I was seated he leaned down and flashed his gorgeous smile.

"Well Edith, it's nice to finally meet you." He closed the car door and I felt my face grow hot while my stomach fluttered.

Please don't be a killer.

I directed him on where to turn until we get to my apartment. "This is it. Thanks again for giving me a ride. You saved me from freezing to death. Also thank you for not killing or kidnapping me." I laughed nervously as I said the last part.

"Oh, I wouldn't do that the first time meeting you..... maybe the second time though." We sat awkwardly for a few seconds before he let out a laugh.

" I'm kidding Edith, like I said my intentions are good."

I chuckled a little as I felt myself relax at his attempt to be funny.Larc climbed out of the car and quickly opened my door. I began walking towards the steps when he reached down to catch my hand.

" Also Edith, there's something I have to admit. I don't come to the diner so much because I love the food there." He scoffed a little to himself when he said that. I mentally rolled my eyes as I remembered what Lenny said earlier. "I come to see you, because I've been wanting to ask you out but was too nervous. That's why I stuck around until after your shift. Would you like to go out sometime?" He nervously searched my eyes for an answer.

I smiled at him as the excitement spread across my face. "Yeah, that'd be nice and I'll try not to drop it in the floor." I laughed nervously and he did the same.

I'm such an idiot.

I gave him my number and we settled on Friday night to go out. I said my good byes and climbed the stairs to my apartment. I guess Lenny was right, he was interested.

Somehow Lenny is always right.

I went inside and peeled my coat off and started to get ready for bed. I hardly slept I couldn't stop thinking about Larc and our up coming date.
