The car ride home seemed to take forever. Zander talked Larc into sitting in the front with him. That would prolong what was coming but wouldn't stop it from happening all together. I replayed the nights events in my head which fueled the anger inside me. I felt betrayed and hurt at the actions that Larc took tonight. In this moment I didn't care what was waiting for me when I got home, I was glad I did what I did.

After I few more minutes I felt the car come to a stop and the engine cut off. I opened my eyes to see my house standing before me. The pit of fear grew until it reach my throat. Before I had time to plan my escape, a pair of hands pulled me out of the car. I looked up to see a red faced Larc glaring down at me.

Tears began to swell in my eyes as he pulled me toward the door. I tug my heels into the ground to try to slow him down but he was too strong. He tugged me along like I was nothing. I looked over my shoulder silently pleading with Zander. He began to baby jog to get beside us.

"Come on Larc let's sleep on it tonight okay? You all can talk about it in the morning." Zander pleaded with him.

Larc stayed silent and only looked in front of him. When he unlocked the door he threw me inside. My body slid against the slick floor before Larc reached down for a fist full of hair. I yelped out in pain which he striked me across the face for. He began dragging me up the stairs by my hair. I stumbled and slipped as I tried to stand and keep my balance to relieve the pain in my head.

"LARC!"

He froze at the sound of his name echoing through the house. After a few more seconds he slowly turned his head to see Zander standing a few steps from us.

"Let her go man. Let's talk about it." I could hear the slight panic in his voice.

"Don't start with me or you'll be next!" Larc's voice boomed down.

"Larc come on. Don-"

"Maybe you have forgotten your place. This is my wife and my business. I suggest you remember where you fit in in all of that!" Larc glared at him and silently dared him to try something.

Zander looked down at my tear streaked face and his expression softened. He pleaded and apologized silently.

"It's okay Zander. It's...o..kay." I tried to keep my voice steady and calm as I pleaded silently back at him. I didn't want him to get hurt over me.

Zander hesitated for a minute before hanging his head in defeat. Larc smirked wickedly before continuing to drag me up the stairs. I didn't try to resist as he did. I knew I'd need my strength for what was about to happen. I went limp as he continued to drag me into the bedroom. Finally he let go of my hair and my head sighed in relief. He slammed the door shut and locked it before walking back to where I laid on the floor. I squeezed my eyes shut as I waited for what was going to happen next.

Zander POV

Damn it. Damn it!

I paced back and forth in my room as I listened to the screams and shouts that came from their room. I wanted to burst in there. I wanted to throw him off her but I knew I couldn't. Someone had to be here to protect her. If I were to get fired or killed then who would look after her.

But I'm not much good to her in here.

It felt like an eternity before her screams stopped filling my ears. I laid in bed trying to sleep but I couldn't get her pain wrenching screams for help out of my head. I've seen Larc hurt Edie time after time but I've never seen or heard it like this.

I'll check on her in the morning after he leaves. I just hope it isn't too bad.

I tossed around until I finally fell into a light sleep. The sun began to creep in through the curtains and the alarm was blaring. I felt as if I only slept for minutes but I had to check on Edie. I threw on a pair on sweatpants and tied my hair back before going down the hall.
