Edith POV

"Well this is different." I looked around at the city as we drove around.

"Its beautiful isn't it?" Zander said as he drove.

Just outside the city is where the house is located. It was a small but cozy home. I climbed out of the car and looked up at my new home with pride.

It's not what I'm used to but it's perfect.

I turned the key and swung the door open. They way the inside looked was as if someone just walked off and left it. It was fully furnished and already had an assortment of food in the fridge.

He really did think of it all.

I walked to the master bedroom to find it was furnished as well. I placed my bag down on the bed and went to the bathroom to bathe. I decided to run a nice hot bubble bath in the claw foot tub that sat in the middle of the bathroom.

"So you like it?" Zander asked as I stepped into the bedroom while drying my hair.

"I love it. It's so cozy and familiar feeling."

"Good. In the morning I'll go and check out the club."

"Okay I'll go with you."

Zander's smile widened on his face as he looked me over.

"What?" I giggled.

"Nothing it's just I never thought we'd ever do this. I always thought I'd have to live my life with you in Larc's shadow, but now I get to call you my wife."

He grabbed me by the hands and pulled me over to him. I climbed into his lap and wrapped my hands around his neck.

"This is the start to a new and better life. For both of us." I whispered softly against his lips and he began to lean back onto the bed.

The next day

We drove over and looked at the club that we were now the proud owners of. It wasn't what I expected it to be. It was a run down building with a fresh SOLD sign out front.

"Okay so it needs improvements. But we can do it." Zander said eagerly as he climbed out of the car.

I climbed out and looked up at the old rusty sign that read "The Blue Pearl". Following close behind Zander, I began writing in a notebook I had brought of all the improvements we needed to do.

"How about a jazz club. Something nice and elegant." I broke the silence that was between us as Zander began to clean up the building.

"Sounds like it could work. We can always give it a try and see what happens."

Excitement grew inside me at the thought of owning my own jazz club. I walked around the main room imagining a huge crystal Chandelier hanging from the ceiling as soft music plays from the front stage. I could guests sitting around at tables dining on the best foods while enjoying the music.

I couldn't wait to get started on my dream project.

"I'll make a list of things we will need to get."

Six weeks later

"I talked to Douglas and he said he will be sending some money and some guys over to help with the club."
"Great. I do kinda like doing some of this stuff myself really. It's fun." I chuckle to myself as we finish up tiling the bathroom and installing the facuets.

We started as soon as we could on getting the club ready. As we dug into this project we found that most of what was wrong with it was minor things or cosmetic. There was a few things that we did need Douglas' help with but for the most part we brought this place back to life ourselves.

"The tables and chairs should be here next week and the linen the week after." I chatted away as we worked.

"Just in time for opening day." Zander said back.

I was excited about it. We had put up many fliers for it and several people in town have talked about it.

"Well Andy we did it. The bathroom is finished."

Zander chuckled lightly as he grabbed my notebook and marked the bathroom off the list.

"I think painting the main room is next." He said.

"I'll get the rollers."

Opening Day

"Thank you everyone for coming out tonight to celebrate the reopening of the Blue Pearl." Zander's voice boomed across the crowd.

I grabbed the pair of large scissors from underneath the microphone stand and we slowly cut the ribbon together. The crowd cheered as two of our men opened the door for everyone to come in and be seated.

"This place is a hit Nora. Congratulations!" One of our waitresses eagerly said as she came into the kitchen for another bottle of wine.

I couldn't hide my smile as I handed her the chilled bottle to carry out. It was a hit. So many people had came put for the event that there's a waiting line out front. It made me proud to watch our dream and hard work pay off right before our eyes.

At the sight of everything around me, and to how wonderful our lives were now. I wish I would've made this decision long ago. There was no more secrets to hide no more fears and arguments ruining the day. It was just Zander and I now and I couldn't have been happier.
