A month had passed by the time Brenda and Tobias were finished with all the fictional characters. "Thank goodness that's over," sighed Brenda. Her ponytail was a mess, and she had dark circles under her eyes. Tobias, on the other hand, looked fine. Must be a perk of being a fictional character, Brenda thought. You'll be hot and attractive for as long as you live. Brenda's father walked into the room. "I've got great news! The fictional characters I advertised made you rich!" he exclaimed. "You posted the advertisement in Starbucks?" gasped Brenda. "Of course!" Mr. Hayes replied. "Didn't you want to make money?" Brenda stepped into the hall with her father. "Listen, Dad," she snarled. "I didn't do this to make money. I'm rich enough already from past projects. I did this to make love to Tobias Eaton!" Brenda went back into the lab where Tobias stood. "Since we have the money now," Brenda said, "I think we should get a place of our own. You know, settle down and start a family." "I would love that," Tobias replied. "We can name our kids after fictional characters." "That was my first thought," Brenda added. They headed up to bed, and snuggled close to each other. "Tris and I were like this a lot," Tobias said. "I miss her," agreed Brenda. "I shipped you guys, you know. You were my OTP. It seemed like you were the love of her life, no matter how short it turned out to be." "You are the love of my life now," Tobias said. "I technically wasn't alive when I was in Dauntless. Or anywhere before that, really." Brenda giggled, and so did Tobias. Brenda lifted her lips to his, and sparks flew.
The sparks weren't real, of course. They were just a feeling. Fictional. But the love was real.
