Disclaimer
While I do not have schizophrenia (nor do I know anyone with schizophrenia), I have done an enormous amount of research and this is not the first piece I've written that focuses on it. I wanted to write something that uses schizophrenia as an anchor but does not use an insane asylum as the setting for the entire work, something that recognizes schizophrenia as more than seeing people and things that aren't there. Most importantly, I wanted to write something that recognizes that people with schizophrenia don't always stick out like sore thumbs, in a lot of cases they blend in (especially if they're medicated and aware of their disorder). It's important to understand that schizophrenia is a very complex disorder, so I do not have all of the information about it, and I will not pretend to. I will do my best to make the story believable, accurate and entertaining to read.
With that being said this is not a story solely about schizophrenia. It is about my main character's journey through his high school years. He touches on family problems, romance, bullying and everything in between. Any constructive criticism is welcomed, improving is at the top of my To Do List.
There is a bit of cursing in this story, most of it comes from one character (you'll know him when you read him). I just wanted to make you aware of that.
