[Chapter Ten: Wristbands]
After learning the spectacular news, Professor McGonagall allowed the three newest French Auror Academy recruits to have the day off from classes. They were even excused of any homework or projects from that day. Aspen was ecstatic, she didn't think she was going to make it. She thought that once Hogwarts was over she'd become homeless, but no! She was going to an academy to train with professionals to become an Auror for the Ministry of bloody Magic!
She was finally on the next step to avenging her mother.
When McGonagall told them that they could have the rest of the day off, the first thing she did was go back to her dorm. Yes, she could be celebrating with Marlene or even that Slytherin who also got into the academy—but no. She wanted to go to her dorm and relax before the real storm arrived. She knew that becoming an Auror was a hard job. She wouldn't only be fighting to avenge her mother, but she would also be taking down tons of notorious criminals. Including death eaters, which she was excited about.
But they were also extremely dangerous. She didn't care so much about her life, but death eaters didn't care who they killed—they'll kill anyone in a duel. Even if they're in it or not.
Both of Aspen's friends were in classes. That meant she had the entire dorm to herself. She wanted to send a letter to her father, but seeing as he very clearly stated to never send a post again to him, she decided against it. Plus, if he didn't want to be around his daughter or even hear from her, it was his loss. She was going to be an Auror!
After a while of just laying in her bed, thinking about the future, Aspen decided to do something productive. Which was walking all the way down to the common room to sit on the couch to work on an essay that was given out the week earlier—due the next day.
Filling in her celebration day with work wasn't her ideal situation but at least she had time to work on it instead of staying up all night. "Hi!" Greeted an unfamiliar girl, sitting right beside Aspen on the long, comfortable beige couch.
"H-hello." Greeted Aspen back. The girl had long black curly hair and bright green eyes. Her voice was laced with an accent that Aspen couldn't recognize, it seemed to be a mixture of multiple different ones.
"I heard you got accepted to the French Auror place!" She said, a smile apparent on her face.
Aspen nodded with a small grin, remembering the achievement that took place hours before. "I did," Aspen nodded. Don't look conceited. She put on a straight face.
"Well, I wanted to congratulate you!" Said the girl happily. "You don't know me, but maybe we can become friends?"
"Erm—" Started Aspen. First step to becoming an Auror should be to actually be able to speak to people. Actually, it should be able to socialize without having panic attacks.
