[Wristbands: Chapter Fifty-Nine]
It was silent as he sat at his desk, reviewing letters sent by the ministry asking for his opinions on political matters. The only sound was his quill scratching against the parchment as he responded to said letters. An owl of brown and white feathers sat at his window, watching his hands every move as it waited for something to do. Outside it lightly rained, though the clouds looked dreary enough to make someone believe that hell was falling upon them.
On his right sat a Phoenix, it's red and orange feathers sparkling, being the only color in the room. Dumbledore stroked it as he sighed, sitting back and then grabbing a lemon drop out of his jar. A knock on his door startled him as he was closing the jar, the glass clattered together as they collided. Dumbledore let out a small snort and called for whoever was at his door to come in. A girl walked in, her hair was a crazed and the glass in her box-rimmed glasses were cracked. Her face was of fear as she walked in and quickly closed the door, "Professor Dumbledore, I'm sorry for coming so unexpectedly—"
"That's alright, Sybill," Said the man, immediately recognizing the girl. Sybill Trelawney, a seventh year Ravenclaw. She was known as an oddity amongst the other students, due to her constant look of craze. She only seemed to make matters worse as she would always claim to be a seer, like her great-great-grandmother. Though, only if they knew that what she said was of truth. The only person who seemed to believe her was Dumbledore, and that's why she went to him when she foresaw what she did earlier that day. "Come in, sit down. No need to fear me."
Sybill nodded as she sat down in a chair that was across his desk. She watched his phoenix, Fawkes, warily as she did so. "Professor, I'm so sorry for barging in like this. It's just-I—"
"You've had a precognition, haven't you?" Dumbledore asked, his voice lowering at the word as if he would be attacked for saying it. Sybill swallowed nervously and she nodded.
"I was making breakfast this morning when it happened," she explained, "I bloody dropped the knife I was holding, and it went into my toe. I healed it fine, no need to worry, but Professor, there hasn't been any precognition I've had before that was so strong that it took control of my body."
"May I ask how it went, Sybill?" He asked, Sybill nodded as she gulped, that was the moment when Dumbledore noticed how truly scared the girl was. Her hands were shaking and her skin was paler than a ghosts. She constantly looked around, as if she were being watched by someone in the shadows.
"I-I wrote it down after at happened, in case I forgot." She said, pulling a crumpled piece of parchment out of her pocket, "although, I can never forget a precognition I make." After a few moments of fumbling, the girl sighed. She placed down the paper and closed her eyes, only opening them when she began to monotonously recite the words on the parchment "A raven-haired woman, descended from closeted lycanthrope hunters, will soon meet her fate in a battle she was forced to unknowingly fight since the time she saw first witnessed light. She will fight like a lion as she protects her loved one, her cub, and her heart will stop once the final tick—ticks. People will mourn, and monsters will be captured, children will be told of the story of this lioness as if she were a hero. She was a hero, and she will always be. However, people will seek revenge, lives will be lost because of this. All because of one man of fiery, the alpha of all alphas, who hunted this girl down since the day she was conceived. He was always watching in the shadows, and now he will be her downfall." Thunder boomed outside, giving an even more dramatic affect to the prophecy. The owl in Dumbledores window flew away for cover as rain began to pour. Fawkes looked alarmed, the majestic bird was ready for a fight. Dumbledore sat calmly in his seat as he took everything in, the only movement being made by him were the clasping of his hands. Sybill sat in her seat, tears welled in her eyes as she asked, "T-This can't be about who I think it's about, is it?"
"And who do you think this is about, Sybill?" Dumbledore asked, looking towards the girl.
"I-I've seen her last name in books, in the restricted section . . . but it's a common name. Though, she did just have a child, hadn't she? I-Ir can't be her," Sybill stuttered, "Professor Dumbledore, is this prophecy about Aspen Lee? The girl who graduated in class of '78?"
"I'm afraid so, Ms. Trelawney," Dumbledore stated, a frown on his lips. "poor girl doesn't deserve a fate like this. After all, her mother made sure she didn't follow the traditions."
"But Professor, isn't Aspens father a muggle?" Sybill asked, looking up. "If Lee is her last name, then isn't it of her father?"
"I can understand your confusion, Ms. Trelawney," Dumbledore stated, sitting up more in his chair, "though, there are many families in the lycanthrope hunting business. In the early 1800s it was popular to hunt the poor people with the horrific disease. Most of the families who participated in the late sport have disbanded, though there are still a few. And those people like to keep it pure. Aspens father is from an ancient magical family that disbanded from the hunting and began to adopt muggle traditions. Aspens mother knew of this as she purposely found Aspens father and married him. Making Aspen a Lee, and in a way, a pure blooded Lycanthrope hunter."
"Professor, how do you know of this?"
"Aspens mother, Kathryn, she was a hunter. She killed many people who suffered from Lycanthropy as they were in their form, unable to properly defend themselves. Though, after she began to realize that most of these people were actually normal instead of the stereotyped killer, she backed away from the business. She was already married to Aspens father, Frank, at the time as she wanted the line pure like many other people in her family. In fear, she came to me for help— and that is what I did. I helped her get away from her family as I then helped her run from Fenrir Greyback who hunted her for killing some members of his pack. After she was killed, I wiped the feeling of love towards Aspen and her mother from Frank. It was Kathryn's wish that he were to stay safe, so I fulfilled her wish. She knew Aspen would also be hunted by the wolf, so that's why she had me promise to help the girl. Though, I haven't really been doing that." He confessed.
"Professor, not to nag, but I think that it's time you begin helping her." Sybill said with a gust of bravery, "she has a daughter who needs her, a boyfriend and altogether; a family. It would hurt them, as well as me, if my prophecy comes true."
"Not to worry, Sybill," Professor Dumbledore said, a kind smile erupting on his face. "I will do everything I can to keep Aspen Lee and her child alive. I can't allow Fenrir Greyback to take another life."
"Thank you, Professor," Sybill said, standing up. Dumbledore also stood up and Sybill gave the man a hug before heading towards the door.
"Oh, and Sybill," Dumbledore said, causing the girl to stop.
"Yes, sir?" She asked, an eyebrow raised.
Dumbledore walked towards her with a comforting smile, a wand in his hand as he said. "I, unfortunately, can't allow you to remember this prophecy. Nor can I allow you to remember anything follow it. You've done greatly, Ms. Trelawney, I hope the rest of your summer goes wonderfully." Sybill opened her mouth to argue but immediately it closed as the wand leant against her temple. Dumbledore didn't say anything as his silent magic was already wisping through the girl's mind, taking away the memories of that day.
AUTHORS NOTE:
OOF. Stuff's been discovered, ay? Lmao I'm sorry I'm excited I've been waiting to write this chapter since March. Also, high-key imagined Dumbles as Jude Law while writing this so ay he's Jude Law. Before I finish this authors note I have a very important question. As for the epilogue, should I just write one giant chapter with a timeline with things that happen after the ending or should I make multiple separate epilogues with the events? (Example of events; regulus dying, jily wedding and birth of harry, peters betrayal, jily death, sirius' imprisonment.)
