[Wristbands: Chapter Forty-Six]
"So we went to find out the gender of your baby, only to find out we won't know it until it's born?" Aspen was looking down at the ultrasound pictures as she and her two companions walked down the corridor. She rubbed her impregnated stomach anxiously in shock at the news she was told. Lily was watching her carefully, nearly almost as shocked.
Aspen wasn't angry, nor was she upset. She was ballistic—in her mind, at least. She had no control over her body as she walked, she looked like and felt like a zombie . . . a pregnant zombie. She didn't understand why she was overreacting, there weren't any downfalls to being a metamorphmagus besides all the attention they got. If their child took mostly after Sirius, they wouldn't have a problem with the attention!
"That's bloody stupid!" Lily growled after a few seconds of silence, "we are witches and wizards, don't get me wrong, I love muggles, but they're so behind! Why are we using their supplies when we can just use magic?"
"Maybe because we're the ones a bit behind, Lils," Aspen said lowly, still looking at the pictures. "Muggles have telephones, they can talk to each other from across the country while we still use letters—they're not even carried by mailmen. They're carried by bloody birds!"
"Oh blah blah blah!" Lily said, waving her hand obnoxiously at Aspen in a playful manner. "All I hear are excuses."
"Lily Evans!" Aspen gasped, "How d—oh, I'm sorry! I meant, Lily Potter—" Immediately following Aspen's banter, she was hit lightly on the arm with a book. Aspen giggled, finally forgetting about the photos grasped in her swollen fingers. She looked over to Lily, only to find Sirius looking down to his feet with something clearly on his mind."Hey, are you alright?" Aspen asked him, placing a hand on his rigid shoulder. He flinched, jumping slightly at her touch but quickly relaxed as he remembered where he was. He looked at them both, Lily also growing concerned of Sirius who wasn't acting himself.
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine. Just a bit tired, is all."
"Are you sure, you're not looking so good," Aspen said, reaching her hand up instinctively to feel his forehead. "Are you feeling sick?"
"Aspen, I said I'm fine!" Sirius suddenly yelled, Aspen jumped back, as did Lily. Both girls were surprised at the boy, he normally never got angry unless he was in a rant about the Slytherins. Aspen wanted to back down, she normally did whenever someone's voice raised at her. But instead, surprising herself, she fought back.
"Well it sure doesn't sound like it. Don't you dare raise your voice at me for being concerned! Shouldn't you be happy about what we learned today? Our child is a metamorphmagus, isn't that amazing? We'll have a little baby running around who is able to change their appearance!"
