[Chapter Forty: Wristbands]
"Place your bets!" Someone yelled right into Aspens eat. She and Sirius were climbing through the stands to find themselves a seat to watch the Quidditch match. Aspen kindly shook her head no, Sirius, however, chose to stop and shovel through his pockets.
"Sirius, you have no money," Aspen reminded him as he frowned, not feeling any cash in his pockets. "I checked earlier."
"You checked my jacket for money earlier?" Sirius asked, they started walking again—leaving the Gryffindor they were previously with all alone. When Aspen nodded, he asked. "Why?"
"I was getting the laundry ready for the house elves before they took our stuff," Aspen said, making Sirius sigh in relief. "Wouldn't want galleons getting in the washing machine, they'd turn everything gold."
"I don't think that's how it works," Sirius stated, watching his and his girlfriend's feet as they climbed down the snow-layered stairs, making sure they wouldn't accidentally slip on ice or miss a step. "But you do you, I guess."
"Nah, I'd rather do you." Aspen cheekily replied, grinning as she looked to her boyfriend. He wore a Gryffindor hoodie, one of James'. He also wore sweatpants, snow boots, and a beanie on his head. His pale cheeks had a red tint, matching his nose—indicating it was from the cold and not from a blush. He had quickly gotten ready after Aspen successfully retrieved him from the library where he was reading about birth dilation.
"I'd rather do you, too." He replied as they arrived in front of their friends. Marlene made a gagging noise as Remus rolled his eyes disappointingly. Neither Lily or Wendy paid attention to the pair as they chatted together, Wendy trying to calm Lily down, Marlene had already given up.
"Lily, he's going to be alright," Wendy soothed, rubbing the gingers arm comfortingly. "He's been on the Quidditch team for four years, he knows what he's doing."
"I-I know he knows what he's doing," Lily sighed, rubbing her temples anxiously. "It's just that . . . I'm here, his girlfriend! He was already a constant nervous wreck playing out there when we weren't dating, wanting to impress me. But imagine it now, he's going to drive himself nuts and he's going to get himself killed!"
"Killed? That's going a little overboard." Said Sirius from behind the redhead, startling her. "Him breaking a leg? That's a possibility."
"Not helping, Black," Seethed Wendy through clenched teeth, making Sirius scoot closer to Aspen like a wounded puppy. Aspen rolled her eyes and Remus, who sat beside Wendy, smirked at his girlfriend.
"Maybe I should just leave," Lily suggested, already trying to stand up, but with Aspen's help, Wendy held the girl down where she sat. "He'll be less anxious if I'm not here, I'll congratulate him after we win the game."
