Torrence looked her in the eyes and backed down. "Fine" he growled and hunched back to the waiting area. He huffed in one of the seats and waited for what seemed like forever.
A little while later, a nurse came into the room and pointed to Torrence, "come with me sir," she called and Torrence followed her to one of the rooms. Inside, Olivia lay sleeping on the bed. Her whole face was covered with expertly wrapped gauze. "She will be fine," she reassured him. She picked up a clipboard on the end of the bed and flipped through a few of the pages. "Looks like she had a cut on her temple that was never tended to and it got a staph infection" she translated the doctor's report.
Torrence looked up, "It was just a paper cut though. I didn't think it needed to be washed up or anything..." He trailed off, remembering her scratching at it the last few days.
The nurse gave an exaggerated sigh "It doesn't matter what caused it, the skin was broken and that automatically increases possibility for an infection. But, lucky for you the infection should go away in about 10 days as long as she doesn't touch it too much."
Torrence ran his hand through his hair "okay..." he muttered and sat in the chair next to Olivia. "When will she wake up?" He asked.
The nurse checked the I.V. bag, "she should wake up tomorrow morning, would you like something to do?" She asked. Torrence only nodded and put his hand into Olivia's. She exited the room and Torrence sighed.
He started to slowly and gently rub his thumb on the back of her hand. Her small wrist moved a little towards him as she slept. It filled Torrence's heart with so much joy that she did that. It made him long to see her face, to see her beautiful blushing cheeks and to see her intelligent hazel eyes. To see her curls that framed her face in a way that drew every eye in her direction. she has no idea how beautiful she really is.
Outside, the trees could be seen in the bright sunlight. Their green leaves left the room with a light green filter. Every once in awhile a bird would fly by and create a shadow for a split second or move the branches and cause them to cast shadows of their own. Torrence watched the clouds float by gently in the blue sky. And if he pressed his face to the bottom of the window, he could see the sun way up high.
Torrence was in the room watching out the window until the sun began to set. The nurse never came back. He grumbled to himself, maybe she got hung up on something and forgot. He rolled his eyes to himself and sat down next to the bed for the millionth time that day. "Sleep well, Angel" He kissed her forehead and leaned back in the chair. Eventually he fell asleep and entered the dream world.
