Torrence scooted a little closer to her, "I think it looks cool," he told her with a charming smile. "Scars are proof you have lived a cool life."
Olivia turned to face him and scowled, there were tears in her eyes "But I haven't had a life and I never will. No thanks to you," she seethed.
Torrence felt like he had been slapped. He stood up "I am sorry" he apologized.
Olivia sniffled and wiped a tear out of her eye. "I just want to go home" she cried and laid back down.
Dr. X walked back in with a pearl-white porcelain half-mask in his hands. "Here, I found the smallest female one, lets see if it fits." He lifted the mask to Olivia's face and it fit perfectly. "Well there you go, it's not so bad" He commented. "Just let me know if you guys need anything and if not then feel free to leave" He left the room.
Torrence looked at Olivia and Olivia at him. "Ready to go, Angel?" he asked and held his hand out for her to take.
She waved it off and stood up by herself "You seem to act as if I'm helpless" she told him and walked past him to the doorway.
Torrence followed closely behind her and rolled his eyes. "I can pick you up with one arm" he boasted as they got outside.
Olivia turned around "No you can't" she denied him
Torrence sighed and put one hand swiftly around her waist and as he did so Olivia heard a song begin to play. It was the same one from before and it seemed to be coming from inside Torrence's chest. She smiled and Torrence picked her up with one arm. "See?" He told her.
Olivia forgot what had happened and felt happy in this man's strong arms. "Yeah yeah" she giggled, still being held by the waist. She was turned so her front side was facing the ground and Torrence had his arm around her waist supporting her weight effortlessly. He laughed with her and began to carry her back to the abandoned theatre. Olivia noticed and her laughter faded as she was carried closer to her apparent prison. "Wait" she anxiously called and began to drag her feet on the ground.
Torrence set her on the ground and looked her in the eyes. He silently pleaded her with all his heart to come with him, to save him from his eternal solitude and loneliness. Her eyes responded with the fear of the unknown and a loneliness of her own which she tried to hide with false bravery. They stared at each other for a moment, holding onto the silent conversations for as long as they could.
Torrence brought his hand up to her cheek. The mask had stretched from the top of her forehead to the bottom of her nose and covered to one fourth of her face. His finger touched against the porcelain and made a soft brushing sound. Olivia breathed with the song that still played and Torrence drew a little closer. He slowly moved his hand to the back of her head and moved in slowly to kiss her small, delicate, lips.
Olivia's eyes shot wide open and she pushed him away. "I told you not to touch me" she scolded him and pushed past him towards the theatre. Torrence stood there dazed. What just happened? he asked himself as he turned to see Olivia open a door and go inside.
He shook his head and followed her. What did I do wrong? I thought she was okay with it. I thought she wanted me to kiss her. You need to stop thinking and communicate with her when you are gonna do stuff like that. Fine. Torrence argued with himself as he headed inside and locked the doors he knew Olivia might find and escape from. She can't leave especially not now. Torrence headed up the stairs and saw Olivia go outside onto the roof. I'll let her have a little freedom. He told himself and sulked in his room.
Olivia stood outside on the roof, she knew Torrence didn't like it when she went out there but she needed to be alone and being in her room didn't feel like an option. She looked up and saw there were dark clouds rolling from the east. Olivia sighed and sat down as the wind began to pick up a little. It is gonna rain she told herself I don't care if I get sick or die, nobody would care. She wiped a tear from her unmasked eye. Torrence cares. . . He shouldn't care, I dont deserve it. Thunder could be heard in the distance. Olivia smiled, she loved it when there was thunder, Nature's bass drum.
