Keira looked at the strange yet, brilliant sky. This wasn't her world, even if she was a faerie, she would also be a human, the human world would always be her home. "Keira, it's safer if we stay, you know that. I-" Keira tensed, "I heard you the first time." "Keira-" "Zeph, let her be." Keira's shoulders shrunk, the realisation, this was her new life began to set in. Lupin sighed, and sat next to her, "Listen, when I betrayed my people, to stand against my father, to side with the fair folk, this became my home too, I know it may not sound like it, by like your realm, all of our realms are completely different from the next, I know exactly how you feel."
Keira stared into Lupin's eyes, they were a deep golden brown, she'd seen them go red like fire when he was angry, a by-product of what she could assume was him being half dragon, although he assured he could transform into a dragon, she'd seen no proof. "Thank you...for that" Keira smiled weakly, "I just didn't want you to think you were alone here." A smirk played on Lupin's lips, unlike the others she'd seen this had no motivation behind it, it was natural.
"So where do we start our search for the mer?" The tall boys she found herself with turned, "We don't have to look for them, we just have to get to them." Keira looked at Al, he looked worried, for what or whom she couldn't say, but the worry was definitely there. "So how do we get to them then?" She was growing impatient, "First, we go to their realm, second....I don't know....no one, no fae or any creature has travelled into their realm in thousands of years-" "We better go then." "Keira we don't even have a plan, how can we just up and go?" "We'll figure it out as we go, standing or well sitting around here isn't going to change anything." Alister sighed, "She does have a point Zeph."
The portal to the realm of Mer was on the isle of brón, the isle of sorrows, a place where many Fae had lost their lives, a place of battle, although that's not what it originated as, it was a bridge for mer and fae to come together and travel through their worlds, a safe passage for both, but when the dragon uprising happened, all that changed.
"That's a portal then?" "That's a portal" Keira looked at Lupin, who had been the one to answer her and then to Alister, who's head was in a map. The portal itself, was a door, the handle shaped like a mermaid, whose hands were out stretched like they were waiting for something, "It's said for the goddess of Merrow, to grand you passage into her world, one must give her an offering in the tiny metal hands of the mermaid that's adorned on the door." Alister looked up, and then down to the handle, then realised it wasn't a handle at all, that was guardian mermaid, and they had to make an offering if they wanted to go through her door."What do you offer a mermaid?" Keira asked, still getting over the fact mermaids were real, and she would soon be among them, "Well, the picture here, shows some sort of stone or pearl-" "Zephyr....we aren't alone here.." Alister turned to Lupin, he was right, sea nymphs had began to watch them, slowly coming ashore, but never close to the three of them who were now huddled to the portal, not daring to make noise. "This is..bad." Alister tightened his hand around the hilt of his fathers blade, a blade he always carried, and watched, the nymphs seemed to whisper to one another, but what they said was both in another language to theirs entirely and far too quite for them to have picked up anything of value. "What language are they speaking?" "I'm not sure Keir, Sea nymphs aren't easily learnt about, since for one thing, they like to eat Fae."
